Expedite Interview

Hello everyone, I have been emailing USCIS back and forth for the last couple of days and I am hoping my NOA2 comes here within the next few days or so. My question is have you ever heard of anyone being able to expedite the interview wait. I am hearing the London Embassy wait is around two months. If I were to call and mention that I was in the military and that I am currently forward deployed do you think I could get my fiances case expedited? Thank you for your help

I got an expedite at the US embassy in Canada because my husband was deploying short notice ( he had 1 month before he was to leave ) To active combat zone. Montreal accepted my request and I had my interview early.

Its up to the embassy and its really hit or miss.. I know some people who were denied and were deploying to iraq.

You can indeed expedite. Its up to the embassy at the end of the day, but if you call the rip off line, get a ciu number - and email them when your case arrives at the embassy, request an interview at their soonest possible convenience. Mine was sorted in a couple of weeks I believe.

We did it the normal way we sent packet 3 on 8th dec and it qualified on 23rd, we got interview in 5 weeks 28th jan

This is good news, just a couple of questions if I may. What exactly is a CIU number? And do you call and get this number before your case even gets there? And does the embassy inform you when it does get there? I am guessing the rip off line is them one you have to pay to call correct? And the final one, the place where your case goes in between USCIS and the embassy, can that bit be expeditied as well? Thank you very much for the help.

Yes, first of all if you are doing the spousal visa you'll go through the NVC in New Hampshire (unless you're doing DCF, when everything will be processed in London). You will have to apply to expedite with the NVC too, who will forward the request to the embassy, if the embassy grant an expedite, the NVC will forward all documents they've received to London, where processing will continue and the interview will be arranged. if you apply for an expedite and its granted at the NVC - the processing and interview will be done on the same day.

A CIU number is a code the embassy will give you when you ring, so that you can email them and be guearanteed an answer. you put the ciu code in the subject line of your email

Great, Kims visa is a K-1 Fiance visa. I have learned she has to do her medical exams now first before she can gat an interview or so it seems. I wonder if I where to have her to call and set it up now is that a good idea? The case number we recieved on the NOA1 will it work or does it change with your next NOA2 or something?

She can't have her medical exam until she receives her LND number from the NVC, which is where the I-129F packet goes after visiting USCIS.

DCF is a visa for married couples who live abroad and want to return to the U.S.

Ok great you all have been a big help. So bassicaly I need to contact NVC as soon as I get my NOA2 and try to get them to expedite the case that way I can get the number and get her to schedule her medical stuff. I have her getting the police forms together now as well. Is there anything else that I could have her get a head start on that would help?

As soon as the NVS have your case - get the case number from them.

Give them applicant and beneficiary details, and email addresses.

Place an expedite request.

THEN, straight away send the following:

ATTENTION PI SUPERVISOR SUE - Urgent Expedite Request - case number - applicant name / dob - beneficiary name / dob.

The above you put in the subject line in the email.

Then attach all supporting documents as pdf files to the email and a letter to explain why you are requesting an expedite.

Send to : nvcinquiry@state.gov

The request will then be sent to the embassy to decide if it warrants that kind of processing.

Thank you very much for all of the information. Im sorry to keep asking so many questions that are more than likely very basic. Only a few more and I will be on track. How will I know when NVC has the package? Do they send you an email or do you just call after you recieve your NOA2? Do I have to send them beneficiary details even if they will already have them because they will have the package? Thank you very much for all of the help, its very much appreicated.

Once you know your petition has been approved - give the nvc a call and give them your details, they will give you your case number. it can take anything from 2 days onwards from approval to get your case number. yes you have to give them your details and beneficiary too. especially if you're going to expedite.

if you go to the ir1/cr1 forum - you will find a wealth of info there and also loads of people in the same boat

To Buck-- you don't really need an NVC expedite because you aren't doing CR1 visa. A K1 case passes through there in 2-3 days, only staying long enough to get assigned a LND case number and packaged up to go to London via DHL courier. They may be able to tack on a note for Embassy to see requesting an expedite but I wonder if pulling your file to do that would delay it leaving for London.

NVC can give you the LND number but the lines are very busy. They do answer until midnight Eastern time. A K1 must talk to a person and not enter their USCIS number into the automated system. K1s are never put in that system because they don't stay at NVC more than a couple of days. (603) 334-0700, press 1, then 5 with your EAC or WAC number ready.

DOS (Dept of State) can also tell you the LND number once it has been assigned. (202)663-1225, press 1, then 0.

Right now she should be getting her forms filled out and printed. K1 instructions are here and forms in the right column.

The documents list to bring to the interview are HERE. She should get those gathered now. Read all the details.

Go to her NHS doctor now and hopefully get immunizations free. (Not all doctors will do that). She needs MMR and Tdap/DTP/Td (one of that version) if she hasn't had them in the last 10 years. Those are for her greencard once in the US but getting them now saves time and money and hassle later. Take that list to the visa medical exam.

Get the visa medical scheduled and completed asap after she knows the LND number. She will need to show her police certificate at the medical so hopefully that is ordered by now.

Expediting with the embassy?? I don't know but perhaps DOS can help you with that. The info I gave you will have her ducks in a row ready to be expedited. Or calling the embassy and getting the email code to ask for an expedite as soon as you know London has received the file might be the thing to do, stressing the military deployment and her readiness to interview (medical completed, forms filled out and interview documents in hand).

If you are expedited at the NVC level, they will expedite you through the NVC too.

It is however advisable to keep in contact with the embassy just to ensure things are going through smoothly.

Wow first I would like to thank both of you for the help. I cant tell you how much the information is helping me understand this process. Its amazing to me how much is involved to get someone through the process legally when there are so many people living illegaly in the U.S.

Im going to have Kim start her forms very soon, right now she is working on her police file thing. When she gets that completed im going to have her do the rest and hopefully we can get the interview date very soon. I think she feels a bit overwhelmed right now with all of it. Its a shame I cant be there to help her.

When I emailed USCIS I got a responce that an agent requested my files. Does this mean that its about to get approved? Or is this something just to get you to leave them alone?

Also we are certain that the K-1 doesnt stay very long at NVC? Some others seem to think it stays there a while even if its a K-1. Thank you so much for the help. Its greatly appreciated trust me.
