Im curious if there is anyone out there who has applied for IR1 or CR1 visa in Guatemala City? I just want to see if anyone can give me an idea of what kind of time scale I will be dealing with, and how the process was in Guat City.

08/17/2016 Applied in person by appointment I-130 at Guatemala Embassy (DCF)

08/30/2016 Notified by email of APPROVAL of I-130

09/12/2016 Notified by email we can begin DS-260

(We are dragging our feet getting all paperwork done, little by little, because we are not sure when we will actually leave for the US)

01/12/2017 Completed DS-260, had to notify embassy that it was complete

01/17/2017 Notified by email we could schedule Interview at the embassy

03/06/2017 Medical Exam Completed in 1 long day

03/09/2017 Interview completed at Guatemala Embassy, Approved!

Hi,

In case you are still wondering, or there is anyone else out there with the same question, I have been going through the process for a CR-1 visa through Guatemala City. We submitted our I-130 forms on Aug 10, received Packet 3 on October 7, returned the appointment application on Oct 19 and today (Nov 7) received Packet 4. Our interview date is Dec 1. So it took about 3.5 months from the beginning to (hopefully) the end. So far, everything has been very smooth and easy. I emailed the Guatemala DHS office a few times with questions and they got back to me within a few days. The embassy has also been responsive. I feel very lucky that we were able to do the process through direct consular filing rather than through a service center in the US. Good luck!
