Hey, this is something that concerns me... like questions about what color & type of underwear I wear etc... without judging anyone else, b/c this is not the place, my fiancee & I are both Christian and are not sexually active... and don't talk about things like the type of underwear we wear... the point is that here in the US, you can be 'unconventional' and get away with it. Will the COs understand things like that?

They may understand and are required to be respectful, but thats up to interpretation... They asked Thuy when the first time we had relations was... If they ask an inappropriate question, then she needs to be ready to address the fact that it is inappropriate based on your shared beliefs... many here are in the same boat as you when it comes to this belief and had no problem.. Luckytxn can add to this...

"Every one of us bears within himself the possibilty of all passions, all destinies of life in all its forms. Nothing human is foreign to us" - Edward G. Robinson.

I told Phuong to refuse to answer any questions like that. In my opinion, if it gets to the point where they're asking questions about your sex life then the interview has already gone into the toilet. She's not leaving with a pink slip no matter how she answers the question, and there would be no point in humiliating herself if it's not going to change the outcome. She may as well at least leave with her dignity. Besides, there is no possible way the consular officer is going to know if the answer given is correct, so the question serves no point other than to embarrass and humiliate the applicant.

They never asked her any questions like that, so it wasn't an issue, but knowing that I didn't expect her to try to answer those questions made her feel more comfortable about the interview.

Exactly Tuan

Yep! I'm not saying this is a deciding factor, but it is one of the reason I decided to go oversea. While this is a huge double standard as I grew up in the state and didn't exactly live by the bible when it come to that subject, but it is my standard. I couldn't even stay over night in the same room with my fiancé last time I saw her and I was proud to tell everybody that no matter how much they chastised me for “going half way around the world and didn’t get none”. I’m so used to the freedom growing up in the states but I was more than glad to oblige her request.

I told my with the same thing. If they start to ask her about the "underwear" or "sex" questions, she will tell them that the questions were inappropiate

AND tell them that she was going to inform her husband about it so that he can channel it to the proper authority for an investigation.

Luckily they never gave my wife any problems.

They pledge in the manual to "treat each case with respect and dignity". If you buy that line, then I got some land in Houston I want to sell you!
