NOA2 Received - Medical When?

Just got the NOA2 today and I know i read before that i can schedule the Medical once i have the approval letter in hand and the Manila case number which i can call the embassy and get once they recieve my file from NVC.

is this correct or do i have to wait for my SO to receive something in the mail?

also as an after thought, i know one person that did the medical prior to having an appointment, in their case it resulted in a couple days delay.

one thing to consider is that the medical has a validity period. if i remember correctly, st. luke's told her that if everything is ok with the medical results, the medical is valid for 60 days. have your SO call st. luke's to ask the validity.

That is not correct.

What is the validity of the medical examination?

• Medical examinations are generally valid for 6 months.

St. Lukes is a first-come, first-served clinic. You can't make an appointment.

Before December 1, there were reports here on VJ that you could complete your medical using only your NOA2, or your NOA2 and your MNL case number. You could get your MNL case number by calling the NVC. You could also find out from the NVC if your physical case file had already been sent to Manila. If your physical case file had already left the NVC, you could wait a couple of weeks for your case file to reach the Embassy and for the Embassy to enter it into their system. Once your physical case file had been entered into their system, you could schedule an interview appointment through the Embassy's call center.

You would know if the Embassy had received your physical case file from the NVC, and it had been entered into the Embassy's system, by simply calling the Embassy or it's call center every day to find out. You could do all of this before you even received a letter or an email from the Embassy telling you that you are eligible to schedule an interview. This method usually shaved a lot of time off of the process since you didn't have to wait around for the Embassy to send you an eligibility letter which may never arrive.

However, after the changeover by the Embassy to the new scheduling system on December 1, I'm not sure about these shortcuts anymore. You can still call the NVC and get your MNL case number and the date they shipped your physical case file to the Embassy. But, I'm not sure if you can simply have your NOA2 and your MNL case number, or your NOA2 alone, and be admitted for your medical exam at St. Lukes.

You can still schedule an interview appointment before you receive your eligibility letter from the Embassy, as long as you have your MNL case number, your physical case file has arrived at the Embassy, and they have entered it into their system. Another change is that you will need to pay the visa application fee of $350 before you are allowed to schedule an interview.

PS: You can also get the MNL number form the NVC

It takes a week or 2 after the Embassy receives your case for them to "activate it" for scheduling.

Now - waiting for Visa delivery.

Beth got into the Medical exam WITHOUT NOA2, we just had the MNL number we typed on a sheet of paper. (and of course passport & copy of passport bio page)

I waited to get the letter from USEM and I paid and scheduled an appointment first before going to the medical, only because they will ask you when your interview is and they will note it down when they keep your passport. That way you can be assured that the US EMBASSY will have it on the day of your interview and it will be easier for them to retrieve. I brought with me my letter from the embassy and appointment slip at the medical. But others have gone to their medical before scheduling and were able to do so as well, but they already keep your passport even without an interview date set which I am not comfortable with, also, I had to show my passport when I paid BPI (not sure if this is still the case-I paid during the 1st week of their operation)

hence that's why i said to verify with st. luke's. because when my wife talked to them, she was told that if everything was ok with the medical, then the medical was valid for 60 or 90 days is what she was told.

again...this is what st. luke's told my wife...so maybe the people she talked to over there didn't know what they were talking about.

Judging from your timeline, it looks like your interview will be in February, just like ours was.

Thanks all, I called the NVC and was told that once they receive my file from USCIS it takes roughly two days to get out their door and on its way to Manilla. Guess i will start making calls every day couple days after its leaves the US like suggested.

Just cant wait till this whole thing is over.
