I'm sure its a silly question to ask, but my wife and I got married on 1/5/2011, and we have to wait a certain amount of time for the paperwork to process...but does she legally have my last name now? Does the NSO automatically assign her last name as her middle name, and put my last name as her new one? My wife plans on updating her passport as soon as she can (its her primary ID) so I'm curious how this works.

3/31/2010 - - - - - -Departed Manila (and the love of my life)

5/22/2010 - 5/27/2010 - - - - - -Arrived in Manila again...we have an apartment together!

8/22/2010 - 9/5/2010 - - - - - - -Arrived in Manila yet again...I love not paying for hotels!

11/23/2010- - - - - Arrived in Manila (Just in time for my birthday!)

1/5/2011- - - - - - - Married!

1/28/2011- - - - - - Departed Manila (doesn't get any easier every time I do this :( )

3/19/2011- - - - - - Arrived in Manila (and off to the island of Leyte)

8/22//2011- - - - - - Wife interviewed for Tourist Visa -- DENIED!

9/16/2011- - - - - - Departed Manila (alone)

To provide you a complete answer...

1st ...need to know if you married in church or had a civil wedding..?

There are different procedural steps depending on church or civil wedding.

Your wife will have to complete CFO seminar to amend her passport.

NSO will have her birth certificate and now your marriage contract. It will take awhile for the marriage contract to reach NSO. Both will reflect her maiden name. Because she is married to a foreigner, she will have to attend PRISM seminar and then get CFO certificate to get another passport issued in her married name. You can check out the DFA website to find out all the paperwork required for a passport.

NATURALIZATION

02/25/2014 - Eligibility date.

03/03/2014 - N-400 package mailed.

03/11/2014 - Check cashed.

03/14/2014 - NOA received.

04/09/2014 - Biometrics.

04/28/2014 - In-Line for Interview - 6 hours later Interview Scheduled!!

05/02/2014 - Interview Letter received. (Mailed on 29 April)

05/26/2014 - 3 year anniversary.

06/02/2014 - Interview. PASSED!

09/11/2014 - Oath Ceremony.

09/16/2014 - Updated driver licence and registered to vote.

10/08/2014 - Updated Social Security

10/14/2014 - Applied for U.S. Passport

10/27/2014 - U.S. Passport arrived in mail (13 days - DID NOT expedite)

10/30/2014 - Naturalization Certificate arrived in mail (was not folded)

MY IMMIGRATION JOURNEY IS OFFICIALLY FINISHED!!
