President Barack Obama has selected former Commerce Secretary William Daley to be his next chief of staff, Fox News confirmed Thursday.

Daley, 62, served as US Secretary of Commerce under former President Bill Clinton from 1997 to 2000 before taking a job with JP Morgan Chase.

The brother of outgoing Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, Daley will take over from interim chief of staff Pete Rouse, who himself took over from Rahm Emanuel after the latter left the White House to run for Mayor of Chicago.

Obama was expected to make an official announcement later Thursday.
