My son's birthday today and as someone said "How can I lie about my age when my son needs a facelift ? "

What seems like not long ago, I was looking at a dating site on a wet Sunday morning in Yorkshire. Now 6 years have past in a flash and I am living in a desert in Washington State and I am a US Citizen - it just seems like a few months.

When I was 42, I was Jack the lad and divorced and very well off and I had a good time girlfriend and the sun shone every day. Doesn't seem that long since at all. Next year my daughter is 4 years older than my girlfriend was then.

It's pretty obvious that the time between now and my extinction will be equally fast if not faster. As Freddie Mercury said - " Just got time to say your prayers".

Not being religious, I have nothing to fear and nobody's right hand to sit on after the lights go out permanently, but these fast arriving January firsts means I need to go into a frenzy of doing everything now ? It's totally illogical to think like that as I won't be regretting anything once I check out.

The trouble is, I have done everything ! Everything I wanted to do anyway (Except Liz Hurley).

Making the transition (not transitioning)from forever going forward and onwards and upwards and achieving and acquiring, to.... not doing that ....is just too difficult.

How do the Vjers who are not in struggling mode, cope with approaching the brick wall at a faster and faster rate every 1st January - oops January 1st ? Is your 'to do' list infinite or have you already done all the stuff that was on your list ? If the latter, what now ?
