How important is it that the fiance visa beneficiary be working currently? My fiance in Cairo is self-employed but hasn't worked steadily for several years. However, he did not list any period of unemployment on his G325. Will this be investigated during the background check? Can we be denied a visa for this? I am paranoid because of reading so many negative things about the Cairo consulate.

I do not think it is an issues at all, in my experiance and what I have seen others post. I think they are more concerned about the individual who will be financially responsible for him/her in the states.

I can't remember reading of anyone who was denied a visa solely based on lack of employment. In our case and the case of many others, the immigrant can put " student" in that area if he's still studying and provide relevant information about his University and degree path.

However he could have put his previous work experience on the G325 and the appropriate dates for which he was employed, even if he is not currently employed.

My husband had some different jobs (part time) while he was studying at the University and later getting his master's degree and we listed those with the date ranges that he worked in addition to indicating to them that he was a full time student.

They never questioned or brought up his work history during the interview.
