Cheap hotel

I was just wondering if anyone in or around Charlotte could give me some hotel suggestions on I-85. I know there are plenty down that way but we don't want to be stopping on every exit to find a decent priced hotel. Plus, we are going to East Moorehead Street and would like to find something as close to there as possible. If anyone has any info I would appreciate it. I have searched on the net and found some decent prices but don't know enough about Charlotte to know if it's close to where we are going or not.

Thanks but I'm still not sure if that's close to where I am going. I've tried to check maps but can't figure out where E. Independence is in reference to E. Moorehead Street. I guess we are just going to end up driving around until we find something.

I used yahoo maps. punched in charlotte nc. picked a spot along the highway 85. then told it to search for hotels. i picked the one closest to the freeway. it gave me basic info. i researched a bit more. they have rooms starting at 49.99. you may want to play around with it and find something closer to your travel plans.

also, if you belong to AAA, pick up a travel guid of the areas you plan to stop in. that can help some too.

Yeah, it's only about 2 1/2 hours to Charlotte from here so it won't be as long as your trip was. We will have fun though, we always do. As long as Javier doesn't try to get us killed with his driving. We're just going down tonight so we won't have to get up so early in the morning. I have a doctor's appointment at 7. Then we will be coming home right after the appointment. It will be a quick trip.

we took the 'silent one' on the trip too. she took her pillow and essentially slept during the entire drive.

but she enjoyed the activities. so all is well.

I can't sleep in a car. No matter how tired I am I can not fall asleep. Plus, Javier doesn't know his way around. I have to read the map and give directions. That makes for some interesting conversations, or should I say disagreements. Sometimes he doesn't like how I give orders, oh I mean directions.

Well, Javier drives almost every where we go. But he still scares me sometimes. I think he thinks the whole point of a road trip is to see just how fast you can get there. Sometimes I just yell, I would like to be alive when we get there, please!!

yeah, some folks are like that. i am not one of those. not sure what to advise though. driving skils/habits are always a touchy subject.

Ana tends to get and stay on leftmost lane even though she is not the fastest driver out there.

So she's one of the people Javier is cursing at then. Nothing makes him more upset then for him to be behind someone slow in the fast lane, especially a tractor and trailer. Maybe I'll get him taught one of these days.

Hey, you don't have to be Mexican to drive like that! I'm one of those kind of people that don't see any reason to take my time. I don't like driving, the drive for me is the worst part of the trip, so I'm ready to get it over with as soon as possible. Therefore, typically I drive as fast as I feel comfortable and safe driving. Just don't see any reason to pokey-tail along.
