Greetings,

I explain first.... to change the first name, in my country we make a request before Notary through notarial document and then change the the first name on birth certificate with the new. So, is replace the old certificate for a new one.

To send I-130......

What documents should be attached when the first name has changed?.

Do i need attached the new and/or old certificate?

Do i need attached the notarial documents?

Or is enought with the new certificate?

Thanks a lot!!!

Are you referring to changing the first last name? Or are you referring to actually changing your first/given name? My wife is Colombiana and I am speaking with her now and she is even wondering how is possible to change the name on a birth certificate so many years later. She will change her name to her married name but through our research and threads in the Colombia portal we have discovered it's easier to do this when in the US and working through the Colombian embassy in Miami.

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

Ok, thank you for the clarification. In your case I would definately attach both copies of the birth certificate along with the legal notation that allows you to change your name. Unless someone else on VJ can provide a better answer this is what I would do. If you want to be sure have your spouse call the USCIS to ask to make certain. Good luck.
