So, I have a question regarding IMBRA rules...As background, I am the USC and my fiancee is Indian national.

I saw my fiancée's pic on Jeevansaathi.com last year and recognized her family to be our family friend. So, we started talking and met over the summer and got engaged in India. The confusion is because I was not a member of Jeevansaathi but she was a paid member. It it just that I happen to found out that her family is looking for a guy for her marriage and we had know them personally.

1) Does Jeevansaathi.com follow the IMBRA rules?

2) Because our families knew each other, is it necessary for me to mention Jeevansaathi.com on the application?

Arrange marriages are pretty common in India and I see it as another case of arrange marriage.

Any inputs will be helpful.

Hello,

You need to mention that you saw her profile on jeevansaathi.com when you prepare affidavits for your case.

Regarding IMBRA rules for jeevansaathi, I am afraid that I have no answer to that question.

Also, mention that your family approached her family as the two families know each other. From there onwards (from initial talks till engagement) it would be a fall under arranged marriage, which is very common in Indian families.

My wife's family saw my matrimonial ad in our regional bi-weekly magazine and we also found that both our families have common friends.

In my spousal affidavit, I mentioned how we communicated initially when they saw our matrimonial ad(along with attaching the copy of the magazine) and from there onwards it was a arranged affair.

I hope this helps.
