My son just turned 13 on November 8, 2010. We are filing petition 751 on the 18th of November. Does he need to do the biometrics? Someone mentioned that children less than 14 do not do biometrics. If that is the case I will submit only $160 for biometrics for myself and my other son who is just turning 19. Also my 19 year old is in Florida attending university. We live in Pennsylvania. When we receive appointments for the biometrics can he go to a Florida site if he is still in Florida on that date? Or does he have to return to Pennsylvania to take the biometrics. I hope not!!!!

Biometrics fees must be paid regardless of the applicant’s age. Some kids under 14 years old get a Biometrics appointment others don’t. It’s up to USCIS who will get a Bio letter. My daughter got a Biometrics appointment and she was 11 then. As for your son having his Bio taken in other State/City different that the one assigned, frankly I have no idea. Hope someone can answer that one. Good luck.

(Day 125) 02/03/12: Oath Ceremony. Done!

End of our Journey:

Daughter and I became U.S. Citizens on 02/03/2012.

(Day 1) 02/09/12: Applied for U.S. Passport & Passport card.

(Day 16) 02/24/12: Passport received.

(Day 19) 02/27/12: Passport Card received.

(Day 24) 03/03/12: Got CoN back.

N-600 for Daughter

(Day 1) 02/04/12: Application sent.

(Day 117) 05/30/12: Picked up Certificate of Citizenship at USCIS local office Chicago.

Each applicant must submit a biometrics fee regardless if they will be taken or not. Just to keep in mind, once your son turns 14, I believe he needs to get his biometrics taken.

It is a crooked system and they know it, but they will not fix it, yet.

N-400 Naturalization Timeline

09/13/11 .. Received text/e-mail: Interview scheduled

09/16/11 .. Received interview letter

10/19/11 .. Interview - PASSED

10/20/11 .. Received text/email: Oath scheduled

The biometrics can be taken at any federally approved location. Approved locations are normally Visa service centers and FBI field offices.
