Going to School in the US Part Time

I work full time 5 days a week and have been giving more and more thought to returning to school over here in the US. So far I've only sat exams at a test center at a local college, not actually taken any classes nor converted anything from back home into any type of college/class credits over here.

I'm sure this is a question that's been asked a million and one times by now. How do I convert my certifications e.g. NVQ's, EDCL ect that type of stuff into credit over here? Assuming those types of vocational qualifications are even worth anything in this part of the world? I have a few certifications from my time in the US which it seems some colleges will accept as credit and other's wont?

Is there a body out there that can take an NVQ 3 for example and say ok this is worth x amount of credit hours or take a US issued Microsoft/CompTIA certification and say this is worth y number of credit hours. Or is this a State by state thing, college by college?

I went to see someone in the local college that i am thinking of attending, last time i was over in the US. I asked exactly the same question as you. And they gave me a form to fill out in order to translate my British qualifications to the US equivalent. I just dug it out and there is a website at the top of the form. http://www.educei.com/

I hope this helps. Good luck

Thanks, I'll check out that Education Evaluators which I'm assuming is the same as suggested to google for? I did logically google quite a bit before posting in here. I didn't have much luck on google and didn't want to start spending money on these transfer companies until I knew I'd found one that's actually accepted by a college over here.

Your best bet is to decide which college you want to attend, there may be a few that you want to look at, and go to the student enrollment department. They will tell you exactly what you need, and talk over your options with you.

It will depend on the college or university you wish to attend, as they have the final say. See a guidance counselor first to see what will transfer. Sometimes there is a limitation of how much credit they will accept toward a degree. You can always visit the department from which you intend to major, and see what they can do for you.
