Do I must go to the interview with my fiancée?

Hi guys,

quick question:

Do I MUST be at the interview with her in Guangzhou? Is it a red flag if I'm not there?

People cannot just leave their work whenever they have personal matters, and I just came back from my vacation

Our relationship is 5 years, so the visa officer would just assume our relationship is not real because I couldn't come

to the interview with her?

Thanks guys

Chris

The interview is only for her so you are not required to attend it

Yes, you not required to attend it but it will look better for the case if you were with her and also it will make her feel confident during the interview. You can't attend the interview, but you can wait downstairs. I was there for my wife when she went for the interview.

Maybe you should save the vacation for your fiancee's interview!

There is really no correlation between visa approval and the petitioner being there.

Your presence there will only help the confidence level of your wife.

That is a choice you will have to make.

Good luck.

They say it helps to go and attend the american citizen hour, which is open house for questions and information about the process, at the consulate. They say the officer you talk to during ACH puts notes into the case file that you were present and this is later seen by the interviewing official. They also say it helps that your fiancee shows your passport along with an EOR letter written by you. This shows that you are there supporting your fiancee and it helps the case.

I personally wasn't able to attend with my wife due to the same reasons as you guys, work/vacation scheduling etc.. Not to mention the cost of buying a last minute plane ticket to China. However, I did write an EOR letter and had it notarized, reaffirming our bond and relationship and my desire to be there but inability to do so, as well as describing a bit about how our relationship has developed during this process and how we continue to communicate.

Her interview lasted all of about 4-5 minutes, 3 questions asked, easy pink.

My suggestions are to practice interview questions, make sure she knows all the information about you that GUZ may know about you. And be sure to spend some good time together online or on the phone the night before her interview or before she leaves for Guangzhou and get her feeling confident and in high spirits.

Thanks Sam & Fen/LDG,

you guys are really helping. That's what I think. Don't get me wrong that I definitely want to be there with her, sometimes,

life doesn't go with your plan, just like my fiancée waited ages for her overseas police record which should have only taken

few days to receive.

She is super confident, she speaks perfect English and we're together for 5 years and 7 months. She will nail it.

one more thing, could you guys tell me where documents your Chinese fiancée brought with them to their interviews please?

Thanks again

Chris
