Normally when you call the 1800 # and follow prompts they ask you to enter the case #...without the 3 alphabets.

This time for N400 I called and entered only the numbers, omitted the NBC* but i was told it is an invalid #....

Has anyone else tried calling....what am I doing wrong here???

Sadly you cannot follow what the online status says. They don't always update them on a timely basis. You can call or make an infopass appointment. Nothing wrong with that.

Ok I figured it out...silly meheadbonk.gif

You have to enter the numbers for each alphabet as seen on the key pad, for the asterisk you enter* then the number.

so NBC* will be entered as 622* then the rest of the numbers.

Now the 'Latest status update' according to them is that on Nov 16th they asked for evidence and the case is on hold till they get the evidence...

Now what the heck do they mean...I did my FP, on Nov 30th, Got a stink*ng yellow letter early this month and that robotic voice tells me they are waiting for evidence.

Yes yes I know the online and telephone service is not reliable but cmon, telling someone for 2 months that their case is on hold is pretty sad...what are we supposed to make of it.

It's been two months since I did my fingerprints and my last touch in the system is still showing as 11-16-2010 so I decided to call USCIS today and ask about my interview date.

They opened up a case and sent a message to my local office asking for info to be sent to me by email. They told me to expect a reply in 5 days so let's see what happens. :whistle:

It does seem like Texas filers are finally seeing some movement though so this is hopefully a good sign.

All my timeline information is in my signature below if someone would be kind enough to add me to the list please. Thanks!

11-03-2010 N400 Mailed to Texas from Orlando, FL by USPS Priority Mail

11-06-2010 Mail tracking status shows as received (Counts as day 1)

11-09-2010 Citizenship fee check cashed

11-11-2010 Notice of receipt received from USCIS in postal mail and it was dated 11-09-2010

11-16-2010 Received Biometrics Appointment Notice. Appointment date scheduled on notice 12-13-2010

11-22-2010 Did walk-in Biometrics in Orlando instead of waiting for 12-13-2010

12-31-2010 Checked case status online and still saying Request for Evidence and last update date was 11-16-2010 (usual Biometrics notice)

01-10-2011 Received Yellow letter in mail describing what docs to bring to interview. (letter dated 01-04-2011 but online status not updated, still showing 11-16-2010 as above)

01-18-2011 Decided to call USCIS today and ask about my interview date and they opened up a case to my local office asking for a reply to be sent to me.

02-03-2011 Got an alert today which says I am now at testing and interview stage. Waiting on actual interview letter now.

02-04-2011 Shows another touch on the online status today

02-07-2011 Received Interview Letter in the mail today. Letter was dated 02-04-2011

03-15-2011 Passed my interview with ease.

03-18-2011 Oath date.

Uh Oh. I may have to call USCIS now since my wife had her fingerprints done a full month before the first Atlanta person on this board to get an interview. That makes me nervous that something went wrong with our biometrics. Before I just chalked it up to a slow Atlanta service center. Now I'm worried.

As weird as this might sound...

I have a STRONG feeling that doing walk-in biometrics earlier than the scheduled date either has no positive benefit or it may even actually have negative delay for some odd reason.

I have been looking at timelines of a lot of people on V.J who went and did walk-in biometrics early and it seemed pretty strange.

The thing that really made my mind think so though is that I know a family of 3 children all between ages 22 and 25 who just recently got their citizenship locally.

None of them have any weird stuff going on like any criminal records (not even speeding tickets) or none are married or none have done any overseas travel etc. All are students in the same field, same college...

All three of them applied separately but on the same date. Even posted their envelopes together at same time using Fedex overnight. All of them got NOA on same date and all got fingerprint schedules within one day of each other.

Now the strange thing...one out of the three children went in about 2 weeks EARLY as a walk-in for her biometrics and the other two went on their later normal scheduled dates.

The child who went for EARLY biometrics got her interview date THREE weeks AFTER the two who did normally scheduled biometrics and hence also got her oath about 3 to 4 weeks after the other two. I have no idea what could be the explanation or if my possible findings are even accurate or if they only apply to a specific filing location like Texas or whatever...I'm just reporting what I noticed first hand.

Maybe there is something odd about going in early thus resulting in a delay. Not sure about that but we did not go in early to speed up processing. We went in early because the biometrics was scheduled on my daughters 4th birthday. Wanted to get it out of the way so we could spend the day with our daughter and not standing at a USCIS service center. I'm not upset about the delay as much as now concerned that they botched up the biometrics or something. If it's another 2-3 months it's not a problem as our first trip outside the USA is in November. But it would be nice to have it taken care of I guess. Thanks for the info and post. I should also add that on the AOS and the ROC of Green Card they had my wife's sex listed as "M" and not "F". That was a HUGE pain so I'm expecting some type of issues again just because it has happened twice already. Biometrics getting lost or screwed up would not surprise me in the least.

She kinda cut me off and left me feeling like I need to call again and talk to another person who might be a bit more sympathetic. Should Ic all again or should I wait for another month.
