As we were going back and forth with our lawyer, drawing up the final things to send our files into USCIS, my husband quit his job and started his own company. We received the final draft of the papers today and realized that the letter from his now former employer states he works full time for them etc. We will be calling our lawyer in the morning but I was wondering if now we will have a problem proving above poverty line support seeing as his company he has started is only a couple days old ( incorporated) and the financial dealings of the company are new without history.

HELP I'm panicking.

they can take his assets into account..or you can always find someone that will sponsor you.

I take it you're going to file for AOS? they may just ask for the previous year's tax returns..but still good to get someone to sponsor you, can be a friend or family member/US person. Kind of like a cosigner on a car loan.

what type of adjustment of status are you filing? from what visa? Without more information then i would say you should get a bank statement of your assets and an accountant's view of your net worth. Your financial paper trail may have just escalated. I have heard of people going postal but is this a new trend? Going immigration (starting a new business on the spot.)

we are going through adjustment of status with no previous visa, through marriage. Granted, the letter from his former employer is dated, and lists his previous as well as current ( at the time of the letter) employment. If the contact that employer of course the

response from them would be " he went freelance and we still hire him via his new company, so he still works for us but in a different capacity". Should we change the papers now, or not worry about it and make sure to have paperwork in order when asked in an interview? He'll probably end up making MORE money than his past tax year, but I worry about being able to prove that with a new business- plus working for yourself is alot different ( no W2's etc)
