Please help me... Thank you soooooooo much.

I am F1 now. F1 status expires within 1 month. I was married to USC and sent my AOS package on the end of Sep, should receive the receipt within a week. My question is, should I maintain F1 status? Is it wise to maintain F1?(I already finish all the courses required, I can pay extra for unnecessary courses, but waste a lot money :) From my search, it seems that as long as I get receipt from USCIS, I am in AOS pending, then don't need to maintain F1? Is that correct?

What if my i485 were denied while I don't maintain F1 status?(I like to think from the best to the worst scenario,I know in that case I cannot go back to F1) Can I re-apply i485 to get AOS pending again or only to get deported and banned from US for 3 years even forever(penalty for overstay).

Thank you very much!! I really hope anyone can answer my question.

As u have said you have already applied for AOS,then there should be no problem. But as per your assumption what if ur AOS will denied then?? But i think as u are legally married then there will be no problem. But if u want to be more safe & secure then u have 2 ways to extend ur F-1 status. First u can take any extra course and u can extend ur status for 1 more semester. Second way, u can still apply for ur OPT period ,by applying this u can extend ur status for 12 months to 24 months,it depends upon ur Degree. For 1 subject u have to pay around $1500 to $3000 and for EAD(OPT) u have to pay around $340.So its upto you, which way u likes. Let see what other ppl says!!!
