My wife has her interview next week at the Chennai consulate. Am I correct in assuming that all the documents have been sent from the visa center to the consulate? What does she have to bring to the interview? She has the medical exam results (sealed) We submitted the police certificate to the US visa center, so I hope we don't have to go to the trouble of getting them.

When we asked the visa center about the packet that they mailed, they said everything was sent via e-mail. So it must be the Chennai consulate that has the documents right?

Also, what are the possible reasons that they would deny a visa? If the marriage is valid, there are no health issues and her police record is clean, are there other possible reasons why they might deny the visa?

Thanks.

Carry ur passport, photographs, photocopies of all documets which u have submitted (in case if they will need),medical reports, vfs receipts. And main thing is carry evidence of ur relationship. Like wedding album, honey moon pictures ,other pics, phone/email/chat records and other things if u have.

Nobody know what will happen at interview. As in ur case u have all clean things, then it will be fine. Sometimes they can put u into AP,if they need more evidence for ur relationships or if they want some more background and name check. Sometimes if ur affidavit of support is not enough then they can ask for a co-sponsor.There will be some more reasons. But this happens only rarely. So dont worry.

As u have all things and u have good preparations to give answers of their questions, then u will be ok.Just go with positive energy like they will issue ur visa easily. Good luck for ur interview.

agree to all the above. chennai is pretty good in granting visas and is not as hard on you as delhi. still, take all the above and does your AOS have the latest 2009 tax info? i know that for interviews earlier int he summer time, that that was an issue ie, ppl not filing 2009 taxes and only sending their aos docs with 2008 info and then getting RFE'd at the interview for 2009 taxes. that's the only thing i can think of. take copies of all your submitted docs, all the marriage docs as above like photos etc etc. the CO who did my wife's interview at chennai was pretty nice. he was very chatty, but nice - a slightly overweight bald guy. see my timeline and my wife's review of her interview (pretty detailed) for all the gory details. if all is fine and there are no doubts, you should have no probs getting the visa. she can ask the CO when the visa will be ready after he says the visa has been granted, which he'll prob say the next day after 3 pm or so. then she can go pick it up herself from the VFS office in chennai after 4 (that's when their collection window opens i think). best of luck and you'll do just fine.

Once in awhile, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairy tale - My beautiful wife Soni

I too agree with whatever has been said above.

If everything is in order, they really do not have a reason to deny you. Its the waiting before the interview that causes all the anxiety and tell your spouse to stay calm and it'll all go well. They aren't there to heckle you. She'll probably be asked very general questions, sort of crosschecking with the forms, and may be asked for photos. Good luck.
