hi all,

first of all, thanks for all your help! VJ is a great resource for me when I need help!

after 3 long years, my wife became U.S citizen after passed the u.s citizenship test. She sponsored her mother. now her mother arrived U.S two days ago. my question is, what is the next step for her to get Social Security Card or Green Card? all she got is a stamp in her passport from LA airport when she arrived.

thank you so much!

Tim

greencard - nothing - just wait for the mail to catch up with her.

ssn - if she'd like it within 30 days -

hey !

get into a SSA office, about 2 weeks after her POE date

and apply in VISA NAME.

Ask the clerk, gently, to look her up by VISA NAME and A#, but

if she's not found in SAVE -

withdraw the application, and

come back in a week, try again.

Good Luck !

damg, we just moved to another address. I try to change address online, but they asked for case numbers. should I use the same case numbers which NVC provided?

thanks again!

whoops

you just moved?

OH SH*T !

time for new pain and suffering.

ok you ... pointed questions:

1. Did mom give CBP the new address, or not, during POE intake?

2. did you issue USPS 'forwarding instructions' or no? If no, get into yer postal office soonish - put a HOLD on yer mail. if yes, go back to the local postal office, remove the forwarding order, place a hold on the mail.

this is the absolute worst time tick to move - between POE and 'green card issued' - the office that handles the green card printing NEVER EVER checks in with the USCIS data center in London KY that maintains the address changes, when printing and prepping the card for mailing.

USPS will not forward mail from USCIS at all.

Sorry Man , really.
