Valerie,

You're obviously more than welcome to butt in! Thats so bizarre about your story, how random! I was under the impression that the relationship between the US and Canada was pretty smooth, why would they ask if your bf was a terrorist? Did you say something to set them off or was the CBP officer just having a bad day I wonder. I'm glad you got in, in the end. :)

it was my first time to canada, and i wasn't sure what to expect. i arrived late (around 10:30 p.m.) and got sent straight to secondary. at the time i didn't realize it was secondary and thought it was normal. he asked what business i had in canada and i said was visiting my boyfriend (we hadn't yet sent in our k1 petition) and he asked where he worked (iga grocery store) and then 'is your boyfriend a terrorist'. that's why i cracked a smile when he said it, it was totally unexpected!

now that i've gone across the border a couple of times i've learned that crossing the border is much more pleasant via land and that the canadian border guards are much more polite and civil than us border officers. i've had more attitude coming back into my own country than i have entering canada!

I hate how I'm addicted to this awesome forum but sometimes the topics make me doubt so much and then I don't sleep at night !

Q: Is there a limit to how many times I can enter the U.S. on the VWP? Must there be a minimum period between one period of travel on the VWP and the next?

A: No, but entry or re-entry into the United States is at the discretion of immigration officials at the port of entry.

Q: Is there any additional documentation which I should carry at the time of travel?

A: A temporary visitor for business or tourism will need to supply documentation to establish that he or she:

•Has a residence abroad which he or she does not intend to abandon

•Is coming to the U.S. for a definite temporary period

•Will depart upon the conclusion of the visit

•Has permission to enter a foreign area after his or her stay in the U.S.

•Has access to sufficient funds to cover expenses of the visit and return passage

However, I read on several other websites that they "like" you to spend as much time in and out of the US.

The UK CBP at the french border can be a pain in the butt too.

David and I flew into the UK to Heathrow with NO problems. Crossed the border into France with NO issues. But after visiting Paris for a few days we went to regain entry into England at the Calais border and they gave us real hell! I didn't have my greencard with me (I had left it at my mum's house in England, because I was terrified of losing it and not getting back in to the US) and I forgot the flight information proving we were going home. The only thing that saved us was the K1 visa in my passport and my Florida driving license (showing proof of some sort of residence in the US)

That immigration officer gave me fits! And she was totally objectionable!

Always be prepared to show you are going home / have ties to your home country.
