A basic "test" for political correctness would be the question - "is the OP White?"

because it's OK for Jews to joke about Jewish quirks and Blacks to joke about

how funky Blacks are (as long as non-Jews and non-Blacks don't agree with them).

The reasoning is that if the OP is White it doesn't violate the TOS, but why should

we care if the OP is White or not?

Comedians often make connections with their audiences by giving examples of

how they suffered growing up in a stereotyped cultural or racial group. With

George Carlin it was being Catholic, with Richard Pryor it was obvious.

White people have been joking about how crazy White people are for centuries

because it's the essence of comedy to laugh at yourself, but a TOS violation

would come from someone laughing at someone else or making an insult personal.

There are lots of threads in "Religion & Politics" that walk a very thin line

regarding taste, but that's all relative depending on which side you're on.

I'm in favor of leaving this thread open. I'm a big boy, I'm White and I can take it.

I'd like to see more Muslim comedians out there - they have the intelligence

(and they are out there if you look hard enough). Is the reason they are not

more prominent nationally because non-Muslims will find their jokes in

bad taste, or because they fear a "fatwa" for saying something an Imam

may not like? I can't wait to see a Muslim comedian with the "chutzpah"

of Lenny Bruce - because after all Jews & Arabs are cousins (as many

Arabs have told me).

We need a Muslim comedian to come forward and make jokes about Koran burning.

We need a Muslim Redd Foxx or Sam Kinison!
