Hello VJ members. The AVR message said that NVC has completed our process and sent our things to Manila. It said to contact the embassy for any questions. But from all the things I've read, I was expecting NVC to give me some kind of appointment information. If this info is coming later from them, why are they saying to contact the Embassy?

I waited one week for the time my packet was sent to Manila and called the embassy. They did have the information and the guy I spoke with was wanting to make the interview date, but my fiancée' didn't have her medical yet.

They send an electronic packet and mail a lot of these packets at one time. According to the NVC you can't make the appt. until they receive the hard copies.

You can call the NVC and get your MNL number right away; that will identify you and your fiancée' to the embassy.

I got a letter today and it says: " The U.S Embassy/Consulate General has accepted this case as an expedite. this file will be immediately forwarded to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General. Any further questions regarding processing or the interview date should be directed to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General." The only Case Number I have is the same MNL number I had since i started the NVC process. I received an email saying that the package was sent out on Sept 2. But again no new case number. Is there another package coming? I am hoping i can get the Interview and medical exam around the same time because she must fly there and stay in a hotel.

You will get a letter in the mail telling you to you can schedule the interview, but my fiancée' completed her medical and interview when it arrived.

My best advice is schedule the interview with time for the medical and paper work to make it to the embassy. **The MNL number is what you will need to schedule the interview.**The embassy says give it 2 weeks after the medical for paper work and results to get to the embassy, but I scheduled her interview a week later and it was there.

She will need the interview letter sent to your email by the embassy for the medical. My fiancée went after lunch and finished same time the early arrivers did, approx. 5/6 in the evening. If possible, I would schedule the medical on Monday or Tuesday.

You schedule the interview by calling directly to the embassy in Manila. Make sure you tell them it is 'expedited' process; If I remember correctly I called the Embassy about 4 or 5 days after I knew the paper were sent. (the embassy person I spoke with tried to tell me I could not schedule because they had not received the paper work, I politely argued with him that I knew it was there and needed to schedule the appointment. He relented and tried to schedule the following Monday....I said she has not done her medical and we made it for Thursday week.

If she is in metro Manila she will get her passport with visa quicker. If she has family traveling with her, I would suggest something other than a hotel. My fiancée stayed at an apartment complex for about half the price of hotel. ( she says she thinks the name of the apts are "green hills".)

A friend of my wife recently arrived here in US, her fiancée got a hotel for her and her cousin, there were some problems with the passport and she had to stay there a month...shewwww. You should be able to get a decent apartment for approx. 6000 pesos a month.

Don't forget she will need exit visa money, and I think it is about 2000 pesos.

:star: :star: :star: Sir the information you gave me is so D^&*$ Wonderful!!!. Getting an apartment is going to take so much stress off our budget.. I don't know where you found something for 6000php but nice apartments I've seen start at about 15,000 a month. Still it is far cheaper than a hotel stay of two weeks, or the cost of flying her back and forth to Manila.. What is an Exit visa? Are there any other administrative cost other than the Medical exam fee? I am trying to find out what are the areas close to the embassy or in between the two locations.

Well it's really not an exit visa, it's sort of a tax. If you are just visiting Philippines the tax is P750, but if you are immigrating it's more expensive...i think around P2000 maybe a little more. The apt. for P6000 was found by my now wife's brother in law. Not sure of the quality, but it sure was cheap.

If you see an apt. for P15,000 per month it must be nice -at least by Manila standards. Still, even at P15,000 you will save money.

Good Luck

My wife pays 3000PhP a month for her condo in Quezon City. There are about 10 open condos right now. Actual rent is 7,500PhP a month, but if you pay by the 4th of the month, you get a 4500PhP discount. It's approx 300PhP cab ride to the Embassy from where she lives. Not too shabby.
