min7734,

If you don't mind me asking, what were the contents of Packet 3 and Packet 4 you received from the consulate? Were there any forms aside from I-345 (and police report and medical report) that you had to fill out and send in after receiving NOA2? Did you or your fiancee schedule the interview your/herself, or did the consulate simply inform you in Packet 3/4? Thanks.

percipio,

i don't know the exact contents of packet 3.

my fiancee in korea told me she received some documents from the consulate some time after i recieved NOA2 here in the states. i'm sure all the essential forms were included in it although i just downloaded I-134 form from the internet and sent it to my fiancee along with other supporting documents(this site has a list of what to send once you receive NOA2).

you can schedule your interview date via internet.

this is the link you apply for an interview date.

this link has helpful info. you might wanna check it out.

packet 3 sent date in my timeline = date she applied for an interview via internet.

packet 4 received date in my timeline = date she received her interview date in email.

hope i answered your question.. :D

min7734,

Thanks, your answers help a lot! I have a few more, if you don't mind. Did the US embassy provide your fiancee with a form to take to the police station when requesting her police record (this seems to happen in some countries)? And did the police station send or give the records to her or send them directly to the US embassy? What about the medical exam? Did she have a form from the US embassy to take with her to the hospital? Did she receive the exam results herself or were the results sent directly to the US embassy?

I'm trying to determine if my fiancee can go ahead and get the medical exam and police record done before receiving packet 3, i.e. there is nothing in packet 3 that we actually need to wait for. Thanks!

i am not sure if she took the forms with her to get medical and police cert but i think it will be fine as long as your fiance explains what it's for and show them his/her passport. that's what my fiancee did. she waited and got the police cert the same day to have them translated next day. as for the medical i think you get the x-ray in a sealed envelop along with the result. you just hold on to it until interview date i think.. in my opinion there is no need to wait for packet 3 if you know what you need and what your fiance needs. good luck~

Sorry I didn't see this before. Seung-ho and I went through the Korean consulate back in Dec. of 2003. It was pretty painless really. I was lucky enough to be present with him and I think that made it a lot easier. The man interviewing us was an extremely nice American (young too) and he was very kind and wished us well. We had a short personal interview at the window, about 10 minutes or so. I will look to see if I posted the experience elsewhere on this site and link to it.
