So, I just filed my husbands I-485 application a week ago. We decided to go visit family and I took his passport just in case something happened and I would have his legal information. Well, I had it in my purse which was locked in the car for just a few minutes while we went swimming... the car was broken into, my purse was stolen with my husbands passport and documents.

We have already go to the peruvian consulate to apply for a new passport which we will pick up on friday. no biggie. BUT, i just checked into replacing the I-94 and it costs $320. Okay, I just paid $1010 for AOS and have no money left.

My question is, is it 100% necessary to replace? We have copies of the old one and his I-485 was already sent. He won't need the I-94 to leave the country since he is waiting on adjustment of status (from K-1), and it will expire anyway at the end of next month.

And if not, do i need to somehow notify USCIS that it was stolen? Or would that just complicate things for us?

PLEASE HELP! I can't believe this has happened...

he is not interested in traveling. we just want everything to go smoothly with the AOS. so besides if he wanted to leave the country (which he definitely wants to do because then he wouldn't be able to get back in), he won't need his I-94? he's already used it to get his temporary drivers license and social security
