Well for the better part of the day yesterday after the interview I was waiting for a copy of my paperwork to be scanned and emailed to me so I could input it online into their human resources department online application form. I got 18 out of the 19 pages later that day. I went to the human resources website to create an account and input the information and then take the 60 minute online exam they're requiring of us to prove our skills. After many hours of trying I couldn't get access to the site even though I kept creating an account. I will have to try to call HR tomorrow when they're open to work it out. If I get the job I don't think I will be able to post much on VJ anymore because of the nature of it.

After two different panel interviews, a 19 page background check, then being requested to duplicate those 19 pages in an online application and take a 60 minute written exam to prove my skills just to get this job with no guarantee I've got it yet I'm starting to get the "Welcome to Government" feeling. It's like college or this immigration process where we have to jump through hoop after hoop. I really hope this all pays off for us. Plus I don't want to have to uproot us, when we're stable where we are, and move us across country looking for work where work is more available.

We have family from SLC coming this week to visit us. Tuesday and Wednesday will be spent nearly all day cleaning this house from top to bottom and getting it organized. As much as I dread doing it because I do the bulk of it and I'm so sore afterwards it does need to be done.

Dh and I also need to start getting our evidence packet together and organized for our AOS interview in less than a month. He is telling me to be calm and relax but I don't think he realizes how serious this interview is since he came on the K3 visa. This is the big one and I've heard several reports from other's who have gone through our local site that they're not easy on the couples at all. I hope we don't get one of those dreaded STROKES interviews. wacko.gif I really hope it's a smooth process for us. One can hope.

Have a lovely Tuesday MENA! heart.gif

Good Morning Olivia and MENA!!

Olivia I hope you hear some good news about the interview, and enjoy your company this week (although I dread cleaning very much also)

Today is the kids' second day of school and I can say its already going a lot smoother than yesterday. Yesterday I spent 4 hours out of my day driving and picking kids up. My sons school is not a problem, its just so far away (like 10 miles), but my daughter's school has grades K-8, so there are so many people coming and going. She said yesterday they had to make an announcement telling all the parents they had to leave the school  I can understand taking small children into school on the first few days or sometimes all year, but middle school aged kids!!! :bonk: Maybe its just me that thinks this is a odd, or maybe its just my kids who are at the "embarrassment stage" and don't like to be seen with me :D

Hope everyone has a great day!!

Happy Tuesday :)

Olivia is your interview on the 17? (our first k3 interview didnt go so well...i wish we had brought a lawyer, if someone else was in the room with us the IO would not have spoken to us as she did. It was awful and really I was ashamed for her.

We are gathering proof (again) I swear when this is over I am having a bonfire party to rid our house of anything immigration related :hehe: This is our last chance at him getting his greencard. I wonder if '2nd interview' will be a stokes interview?

Hope ya'll have a great day.

Thanks everyone. I'm still having trouble getting into their website & getting HR to call me back.

Happy Tuesday :)

Yep it's our first K3 interview. I'm sorry for your experience. I sure hope our IO isn't like your IO. I do have an established attorney since 1990 in the family that lives here in town but he doesn't practices immigration law. I don't think we could afford an immigration attorney right now. I'm building our arsenal of evidence and going over every possible question they could ask. I told dh we need to print out all our communication online since 2004 and every picture of us together at any events. He thought it was much since we did all that for the Embassy interview and the IO didn't look at the bag of evidence I'd prepared and left with him to take. I told him this interview is different. It's the big one. This is where they want and need to see that evidence. This is for your GREEN CARD not some visa. Plus it's for a 10 year green card, not a conditional 2 year, so you better believe they want to see evidence of a real ongoing relationship. Sigh. Am I being to serious?

Cleo, the IO wants to see evidence of your life together now so I would nix the chat and phone records from Egypt. You could probably bring a few pics of you with your husband's family but all that other evidence is overkill for AOS, IMO. I would bring current pics of your life together in states including photos with your family and friends. I would keep it limited mostly to proof of your life together since your husband's been in the states. They want to see that you're really living together as a couple. Don't worry too much, I'm sure you'll do fine.

I wanted to add, that our AOS interview was also for the 10 year GC not the conditional. Our interview couldn't have been easier or less complicated. I'm not sure if this has to do with the fact that we didn't file right away or not. We waited a year before filing AOS after my husband arrived so we had a full year of evidence and proof of living together. Not that we really brought much of anything aside from about 20 photos and our lease.

Filing later was problematic for us because of how long we were in AP and the time he arrived here. The medical was only good for a year and we don't want to endure the extra cost of another full medical so we had to file 2 months after his arrival. We're one of those poor young couples getting on their feet together and hopefully the IO will recognize that. And hopefully I get this government job soon! Though I won't start until after the immigration interview I believe. I wish the HR would call me back this is really frustrating not being about to take this test already.

Yeah we had to pay for another medical because my husband's expired but it could've expired before AOS even if we filed right away depending how long it took to get an interview. That extra expense did suck. Like I said, I'm not even sure if that mattered (filing later). We wanted to wait till we were married two years so we wouldn't have to lift conditions. The expense of that would've been greater than the new medical. I don't blame you for wanting to avoid that expense.

So did you find out in the interview for certain that you won't have to lift conditions? I've read some people had problems when it came time to file for citizenship. They did like you did and like we're hoping to do and had a wrench thrown into their plan because they didn't file lifting conditions paper jointly with AOS. I don't understand that because I thought if you got the 10 year green card you didn't have to lift conditions.
