maybe, maybe not. IMO, depends on 'timing', much.

USUALLY, the packet 3 is 'tagged' to be sent out, within 2 weeks of 'casefile opened'.

Casefile 'logged' is a different timetick, altogether, is prior to 'casefile opened'.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

case was reloaded on Aug 17, and p3 sent out on Aug 20th. DOS also said case is opened. what will be the case status when p4 is about to sent out and an interview date is assigned? will that be case open?

my understanding, nomenclature from DoS TeleRep Phonecalls

casefile logged

casefile opened

Packet 3 sent to Visa Applicant

Packet 3 Received from Visa Applicant

Packet 4 sent to Visa Applicant (interview letter with appointment date assigned, inside)

Usually, when DoS knows of 'packet 4 sent out', DoS also knows the interview date. Not saying 'this is concurrent', at all.

If filled-out Packet 3 returned to GUZ prior to casefile opened, are they going to put the returned form into their system or something? Also, i'm also trying to obtain a notarized unmarried statement, but haven't found any notary public that can do that for k1 visa yet... any suggestions?

got Packet 3 from GUZ at last...they, however, sent the old OF-169 form.. Regarding DS230 form... is it ok to fill out DS230 part I & II under the IV visa instruction ("packet 3") heading? instead of the DS230 Part I under k1 visa instruction("packet 3") on GUZ's website? both forms for part I looks the same except few questions are numbered differently... Thanks!

re: ds-230 - skip part II, K-1 visa applicants do not fill this out.

re: which version of DS-230 - I suggest the latest one, available ( I think?) at http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3194.html
