Hello. Finally got my SSN today Aug 20 and my GC last Aug. 13 validity date is july 2012 .

Now, it is the TDap shots that the nurses in ST. Luke is what I need to know. I had 1 shots of MMR with checked on the box Completed. On TDap i had only 1 shot and says insufficient time and nurses said that I have to get another 2nd dose here in the US. My husband was a lil confused because anti tetanus shot that was given to most of them here is only 1 shot and doesn't need a 2nd dose... I had that MMR and TDap shots on June 22, 2010 and they said that after 4 to 8 weeks i should get a 2nd dose of TDap shot...

So what kind of TDap shot do i need to get here in the US and how many shots do i really need?

The next day is already my 8 weeks since i got my MMR and TDap shots.. Does it means when it lapsed more than 8 weeks, i need to start all over again my 1st dose of TDap? Pls help po...thx a lot

You have to have proof of vaccination to tetanus, diptheria, and pertussis. Have you ever received any of these vaccinations before St. Lukes? Do you have record of immunization as a child? In order to establish immunity you have to have had an intial dose and a booster. So if you have no record of a Tdap immunization before St. Lukes they can A) give you a booster to establish immunity B) give you a blood test for levels of antibody to one of these.

If you go beyond 8 weeks before booster this should still be okay. The cheapest way would be just to get another injection as the blood tests are expensive, but you need to discuss that with your physician along with your complete vaccination history.

We had to get a blood test, and it took an additional month for the results to come in, and it cost about 300 dollars.

Or does it means that i only need to get a what they called TD shots (booster) after 6 months from the time i had my first shot of TDap in the st lukes? So if this is my 2nd month since i got that shot, i should get it this coming December 2010? Thanks

I simply asked our USCIS doc what we needed. She looked over her shot records, and told us which ones she required. We had to go downtown to the county health dept because our doc had to order the shots and would take 1 week or so. She said to wait or go to the health dept. We showed her the receipts and she gladly signed our AOS papers.

I would suggest that you go and get an appointment to your local health unit and see if they can give those shots to you as some health unit varies in terms on their protocols. I got all my follow up shots for Tdap, MMR, ,and HPV. They even give me a shot for Meningococcal at our local health unit. If the health unit can't give you the follow up shots for the HPV that you got from St. lukes, you should prolly get it from your family physician.

I honestly don't know the gap between those Tdap shots I think Doc Gracey (ryandgrace) can help you in this matter. Either way, once you get an appointment with your Health Unit or physician and show your records, they should know where to start or continue.

Having the vaccine administered by a nurse practitioner should not be a problem. My wife had her TDap done (at Safeway) by a nurse. We just submitted the vaccination receipt to the doctor. Everything was fine.

Hope things work out!

Hi guysI think you can help me on my confusion. I had my medical exam last April 22-23, 2013 at St.Luke's. I had four shots of vaccines, HepaB, Varicella, TDap and MMR. These vaccines have follow-up/booster doses. Do you have an idea if I can just have them from our private doctor here in the Philippines (not in St.Luke's) before going to U.S. because if I am not mistaken they are more expensive in U.S.? It's just that I'm not sure if it will be accepted by USCIS. If it's acceptable, do the private doctor need to fill-up the same vaccine record that SLEC has given to me? or they should provide another record for the booster doses?

Thank you very much. smile.png
