I am really debating about whether or not to use a lawyer to file my new CR-1. I hired the lawyer for the rebuttal after the K-1 was returned but I really didn't find her to be very helpful. She actually stopped returning my e-mails right after the rebuttal packet was mailed. Several thousand dollars later...all I had to show for it was an administrative K-1 closure, a hole in my bank account, a fiancee across the ocean, and you guys. Anyway~ so here I am now getting ready to file my CR-1 and I just don't know if I want to use her again. Really, I have already completed all the paperwork that needs to be sent. I can send it all now if I don't use her..... or I can use her but then I have to wait a few weeks for her to get her part together (not to mention the extra $$$) .... what to do?!?

I would not use one. Why give away more money for someone to do your filing which has the steps listed here on VJ to do it yourself?A lawyer CAN'T speed your case any quicker than if you did it yourself. There are plenty of VJ'rs here who will guide you if you are not sure about something. We are ready for our interview and we filed the CR-1. I did it all MYSELF from reading a little here on VJ. I am so thankful I saved myself the heartache of not knowing about my case (from hearing second hand through your lawyer) and not to mention the thousands I saved. The end choice is yours.
