FedEx/DHL advice: Mailing Passport to Tagum City

Greetings all

It's getting very close...

The US Embassy/Consulate 'should be' close to approving my wife and stepdaughter's I-130 applications. I filed via DCF localy in Frankfurt, Germany.

I currently have their Phils Passports in-hand because I need them for once I get the approval notice from the Consulate so that I can take them to IMCOM Germany (near Heidelberg) and get their SOFA Cards/Stamps...for shich they will then be eligible to travel here to Germany to join me.

I will then need to Express ship/mail their Passports and SOFA cards back to them lickity split

I plan on using FedEx. My wife says that she trusts them more there in Tagum City than she does DHL. DHL, is far more easier on my end...but to please the Mrs I'll likely use FedEx.

Anyone have any experience sending importatnt documents (passports, etc.) via FedEx to Tagum City/Davao? Wil I be able to require her signature for delivery?

I had her send me some documents via FedEx from Olongapo (2 hrs west of Manila). Arrived in 3 days to Oklahoma, USA. Needs to be signed for. I was impressed.

Fedex is bigger and has more branches around the Philippines than DHL ,maybe that's the reason your wife trusts it more than DHL.

My husband sent all the important documents on our application thru Fedex and they delivered earlier than their target ETA ( that's my experience)

And Fedex is associated with Air 21 which is the courier of US embassy here.

We ship using FED EX to Tagum all the time, never had a bad experience or issue !

One thing to keep in mind is that FedEx uses Air21 in the Philippines whereas DHL has it's own employees there. I have shipped things to the Philippines using FedEx, UPS & DHL. Using UPS & DHL there were issues with PH Customs wanting to over-charge me on the tariffs. Only DHL helped me and reduced the tariff from 12,000Php to less than 600Php!

I'll never ship anything to the PH using another carrier....

Correction Bob, FED EX Philippines is owned by AIR21 (MAIL&MORE), FED EX shipping from overseas is FED EX two seperate companies differant offices differant uniforms, differant tracking management tools differant everything !

Are you saying that if I send something via FedEx from the US to PH then it never passes through the hands of an Air21 Employee?

What I am saying is, a package sent from the US is afforded the tools IE. tracking ability, and is held to a higher standard in terms of responsibility by FED EX not AIR21 so if anything is lost it is resolved by Fed EX not AIR21 who could care less I have shipped with both companies and I have never and I mean never had an issue shipping from the US to Tagum City, it has always been timely and usually ahead of schedule and I have used them maybe 30 - 40 packages
