Filed: IR-5 Timeline

Parents had there IR5 interview in May 2010. Mother got her visa next day. CO collected father's passport and said you will get your visa in 3 to 4 weeks. Its been almost 4 months. When we call to USE ISB only answer wait its under process and you will get it soon. Father age is over 65. Does anyone knows whats aprox. timeline is ?

dear i can understand your frustation. please make your mom travel before 6 months of visa issued as this immigrant visa will expire in 6 months if not used. she can come back to your father after getting permanent green card in usa. it will take a month for green card to arrive after she enters usa.

regarding your father i am sorry to say that there in no time limit for this, it can be tomorrow or 2 years. but for majority of cases it takes a year and for maximum i saw on internet cases is 2 years. mine was for 18 months. so be patient, he will also get it any way. so dont compromise on your mom's visa
