Hi there everyone..

I am new to this forum and am trying to get some information on DCF in Australia (I am Australian, my fiance is American). We have been back and forth between various countries for the last few years, trying to stay together.. we will be heading to Australia at the end of October for seven months. Does anyone know if we are eligible for DCF? Does he have to be there for a certain time? Will DCF still be around in March/April (probably the time we get married)?

Any help would be great!

Hi again.. sorry to be a pain and nag too much, but I am completely clueless and was wondering if anyone can offer some insight to my question above?

Thanks so much!

Bryna,

some couples in here went through DCF and would be able to help you out. It just seems to be quiet last few days. In the meantime... there is a separate DCF thread on VJ with heaps of info on requirements and process itself. And like sharyna said, check Sydney Consulate site directly as well. There is a link on top of this page to "embassy info".

Hope you find out soon... Good luck!

But I think it's safe to say: do come back here... trust me... this is a great group of helpful aussies and one of those who are in the know will point you in the right direction :)

hey guys

the chasers are at it again

at the apec summit today, the guys created a fake canadian motorcade, and managed to get through 2 police checkpoints, before finally being stopped just metres from goerge w's hotel

one of them was dressed as bin laden

the aussie taxpayers have a 270m dollar bill for security for the conference....money well spent?

for those that dont know, the chasers are a team of comedians probably most famous in australia for selling fake weapons at the football after the cronulla riots a few years back

G day everyone, firstly Chasers are bloody funny, I saw photo of one of them today at APEC with the bin laden beard LOL! But there is a serious side to my message. I am having my medical done on Monday in Melbourne through doctor Okraglik. Has anybody else had their medical done through him? How was it and how long did it take for the results to be returned? Thanks for the Land Downunder forum. Take care everybody.

do you have an interview in sydney? unless you have an interview like the next day you will be fine. Providing you're a healthy chap and have had all your vaccinations (read the medical thoroughly to see what's required for your age group) it takes about as long as it is to get your blood test results back. The actual appt is maybe like 30mins long...it's basically a general physical, nothing special and nothing to get to worried over.

ps, I went thru poppenbeek but I don't see a radical difference between the two as far as receiving results. You can have it mailed via registered post, or pick it up a few days later, unless he sends it to sydney direct.

Hello just a question. i-134 do I need this form. In the documents in packet 3 from Sydney in the checklist with the ds 2001 it mentions this form. Now looking at Sydneys website it seems that this affidavit is only for K visas , is this right? I am doing the spouse visa so I have the i-864 filled out but no i-134 I have never seen this form!

Hmmm, that doesn't sound right. I will have to see what they send my wife. She should be receiving something within the next few weeks. If you are doing a CR-1/IR-1 like us then I the I-864 is all you should need.

You might want to contact the embassy Monday to confirm what they require. I didn't file for a DCF (regular stateside) and I needed to complete the I-864.

Good luck!

hi Guys,

Can anyone who has done DCF recently tell me how many tax returns your USC had to supply? Hubby hasn't done his for 6yrs (didn't know he had too) and the tax lady here (that does US taxes) said we should be right with the last 3yrs?

IS this correct? i heard the consulate only ask for the last 2yrs of taxes to be supplied?

Just wanted to find out b4 filing, as we are trying to get the niggly bits out the way now.

Thanks

Emerald

DCF or regular stateside filing, the tax requirements should be the same. In the last year, there has been an amendment (I read it somewhere on the Sydney consulate website) in that the number of tax years required was limited to the most recent (in this case 2006). However, the actual I-864 paperwork allows the petitioner to submit the last 3 years although it only requires the most recent. I personally sent in the last three years (2004, 2005, and 2006). Since you are DCFing, I would recommend showing the last 3 years just to show a trend.

Good Luck!
