I-751 Interviews

Hi there everyone, I filed an I-751 recently and am curious that if USCIS asks for an interview (hopefully they won't), do they expect additional evidence since the filing? Do they ask for specific evidence based on each case? I want to know if I should continue saving things here and there. Thanks in advance to any feedback!

Some people get interviews, some not. It wont hurt if you keep gathering more evidence.

Hi,

Yes - save as you go. You need a much smaller list of evidence when (and if) applying for citizenship.

RFEs come in two ways. Sometimes they are specific and other times they just ask if there are any other things you would like to submit. Sometimes people basically submitted all they can and get an RFE, so they try to get some few more things and then include a cover letter explaining the lack of some specific items. For example, the spouse owned the house before marriage and we never had a mortgage together.

Interviews are very rare but if requested, they usually like to see originals but make sure you take copies as well if they want to keep.

They would need evidence for citizenship? why? Wouldn't citizenship be automatic once we are done 5 years on GC? how long does that whole process take?

If you apply based on 3 years, then they will need to establish some particular things:

1. Your eligibility (physical presence, continuous residence, good morals, etc...)

2. Your spouse is a USC and has been for the past 3 years.

3. You are living together (some evidence)

i am a divorce waiver so i think it would be 5 years for me. so i am guessing they would only need point 1 for me?

I think so. If you review the naturalization guide, they have a checklist close to the end of the manual... go over it and see what you need to submit.
