I've heard rumors that I do not have to wait to actually receive packet 3 before faxing back the document to the consulate. I'm interested in this as we are a K1/K2 and I am trying to get back earlier so my daughter doesn't miss too much school! (Of course in my brilliant brain I had this all timed out but I didn't forsee the Montreal debacle!)

This reminds me of that old saying "People Plan, God Laughs"... that should really be "People Plan, Vermont Laughs."

sheesh.

Anyway, I'm about to enter ask 3729384732897 questions mode so I thought I'd go gentle and start here =)

TIA!

You and me both! We had this perfectly planed out until BOOM Montreal throws a grenade on our plans. I JUST sent my packet 3 today and technically, you could WITH THE EXCEPTION of the checklist, which has your file details on it. So I wouldn't chance it. Plus... it would certainly look weird on their part getting answers to the mail they've only seen but not put a stamp on two weeks afterwards as planned.

Good luck!

I just checked your profile and timeline and you are from the West Coast... you should be saved from the Montreal debacle and go through Vancouver. Ding ding you win back 3-6 months of your life!

See profile for our K-1 Visa/AOS story from 2010-2011Apparently we love USCIS/NVC so much we left and are doing it again! This time giving IR-1 a whirl. Rock on immigrators.
