do you buy patterns or what? I am always hesitant to try free patterns I find online.

I hardly ever buy patterns. I either get them free online or use friends' books. If you knit, you absolutely have to become a member of Ravelry. It's like a combination of Facebook for knitters and an unbelievable compendium of knowledge, advice, patterns (free and otherwise)... And because so many people are using the patterns available on Ravelry and providing feedback, you can find out if there are errata on patterns you should be aware of, and also how people fixed them. Lots of pictures of what people are making, yarn advice, and totally obsessive. It has a great function where you can input what kind of yarn you have and how much of it you have, and it will match you to patterns that are appropriate.

Last night my friend Sara and I were knitting at a bookstore in Pasadena, Vromans, and a woman asked us about what we were making, and it turned out she was a knitter too. We told her all about Ravelry and she was very interested. Sara said to me, "We are total Ravelry evangelists, you know." And it's true. It is addictive and there are so many scrummy things to make. THOUSANDS of patterns. Join, you won't regret it! If you want to friend me if you join, my username is meagantm. :)

Get some onion Bhajis. Nothing healthier than a deep fried ball of onion.

I would sell what is left of my dark, shrivelled soul for a decent onion bhaji.

Oooh, curry! We were brief lovers in London. You teased me and fulfilled me and now I'm home and spiceless.

I'd take a bhaji too. Oh, and a peshwari naan.

Ta.

And a jalfrezi, and a naan bread.

What a weird day y-day. First off, a neighbour had her purse stolen as she was getting out of her car in the parking lot, we heard her cries for help so ran down there, but he was long gone. This complex has really gone downhill in the last few months, getting to be lots of crime. Thank God we are moving in 2 weeks.

Then we go to the track for 50c beer night. One of my favourite outings, you can get right tipsy for cheap and watch horse racing. Met up with some friends there, made a bunch of money betting with them, was having a ball. Then one of the horses during a race stopped, propped, dropped his rider, kept bucking and hung himself up on the fence. Fence came apart, he somehow managed to slash his belly open, got off the fence and raced down the stretch (right in front of the crowd) with his entrails dragging and spraying blood. It was AWFUL. It's not the worst accident I've seen horse racing, but definitely the most gruesome injury to a horse. I still can't get the picture out of my mind.

Anyway, a strange day, with both awesome and awfulness.

I know, I miss my curry. I can find adequate substitutes here, if I look hard enough. But nothing compares to feasting on a good British one.

Next time I am over I shall get my fill once more!

Oh my god. I really could have done with not reading about that. :dead:

Anyway, at the opposite end of the spectrum to knitting, I had a really strange conversation with a girl I work with earlier this morning. She's been dating this guy for a couple of weeks and, although she hasn't done the "deed" with him yet, has had a bit of a fumble.

Turns out he's not circumcised and she's really having issues with it. In fact, you'd think he had a four headed monster down there the way she's going on.

I tried to explain to her that it really shouldn't make any difference whatsoever, but it's proving hard to get my point across to her. I'm a bit flummoxed by how strongly against an uncircumcised ####### she is, to be honest.

Hmm!

I quite agree. Having done my apprenticeship of slutdom in the US, I am familiar with both varieties. Personally, I find the aesthetics of the unsnipped more to my taste. They're just cuter.star_smile.gif

Edited to add a missing article.
