This is true.

I concur. It's just something about that wiry hair.

I've heard about that - it was a hand-buzzer built into the chair or something wasn't it?

If you want to see a creepy horror film - you should look for a couple of old Hammer movies - Quatermass and the Pit, The Quatermass experiment. The Ghoul is good also - it's a blatant rip-off of psycho, but with thuggee cultists instead of Norman Bates.

Quatermass and The Pit is brilliant. My Dad and I watched it when BBC2 was reshowing all the old b&w Sci-Fi stuff. He'd obviously seen it the first time around. :P Anyway, when it came out on VHS (I'm talking about when I was a teenager) we used to watch it once a year together.

Andre Morell was the BEST Quatermass, in my honest opinion.

Good memories. :star:

I have the BBC b/w version which is about 3 hours long. I haven't actually seen the Hammer remake all the way through.

It's worth seeing, but I still give the edge to the TV version.

We watched The Day of the Triffids last month on Netflix, good fun.

Indeed!

Nigel Kneale was a very good screenwriter. Doctor Who was actually based on Quatermass

Out of curiosity my Dad and I purchased The Stone Tape (another Nigel Kneale authored screenplay) a few years back to watch (this was before the advent of Netflix and associated DVD rental). Although good, it hadn't aged as well as the Quatermass series.
