Birth Certificate (Afghanistan)

Hi

I got an RFE that requests:

"Birth Certificate:

The document you submitted is not an original or certified copy of an original issued by the appropriate government authority. The document must be an original, or a certified copy of the original, bearing the original seal or stamp from the issuing authority."

I know that in the event that no birth certificate is available, a public official needs to write a letter stating why a birth certificate is not obtainable. My uncle has been trying to meet this requirement but no one is willing to write a letter. Has anyone come across similar problems in Afghanistan?

I have already sent an affidavit from a close relative, the applicant’s mother, stating the date and place of birth, both parents names, and the mother’s maiden name.

I have also sent a copy of the national ID card (Tazkira), with a copy translated in English (not original, which I will need to do).

I'm not sure if this will help or not but when we sent the paperwork in for our K1 Visa application I included the information in this article. Our paperwork went through USICS with no problems. I put a copy of this article along with a copy of his passport.

When I asked the Embassy in Islamabad about needing a birth certificate they said he needed to provide " He will have to submit some documentary evidence for is date of birth from Afghan government" We included his Taskera and Passport and everything went through so far but we are in Administrative Processing right now waiting on his Visa, but they haven't asked for any further documentation so we've got our fingers crosses hoping it will come soon!

Hi there,

I got RFE back in April for not sending my wife’s "Original" birth certificate (Tazkira) and our marriage certificate. As soon they received the originals my case was completed and was forwarded to Islamabad for interview. She received the originals back at the interview.

I have already called the NVC and they refused to accept the Tazkira (National ID Card). This was like 2 months ago.

My wife finally did get a Birth Certificate; it basically says she was born at home.

So now I'm waiting to hear a response for the RFE I have submitted.
