My husband received his EAD on Wednesday. His AOS was also approved on Wednesday.

If he gets his SSN with his EAD will he have to do anything to update the card after he gets his GC? Does the SS card you get with an EAD indicate that you are restricted in any way? Would it be better to wait another 3 weeks for the GC?

AOS Timeline

4/14/10 - Packet received at Chicago Lockbox at 9:22 AM (Day 1)

4/24/10 - Received hardcopy NOAs (Day 10)

5/14/10 - Biometrics taken. (Day 31)

5/29/10 - Interview letter received 6/30 at 10:30 (Day 46)

6/30/10 - Interview: 10:30 (Day 77) APPROVED!!!

6/30/10 - EAD received in the mail

7/19/10 - GC in hand! (Day 96) .

I think it would be better to wait because with EAD you will get a restricted Social security card then you will have to apply for a unrestricted one again when you get the GC. EAD only proves you are eligible to work, it does not say you are a permanent residence. This is what the lady at the social security office told me. Makes sense to me.

AOS Timeline from F1

Sent AOS on April 17

Received and signed on April 19

Got 3 NOAs April 26

Biometrics Appointment Letter received May 1 - dated May 26

Walk-in biometrics rejected May 12

Biometrics Appointment May 26

Interview letter received June 11 - for July 19 APPROVED

EAD Received July 9

GC RECEIVED August 2
