Montel Williams: I'll Use Pot Until The Day I Drop Dead

There may be a good case for legalizing it if controlled in a secure way,

but as we have the example of Michael Jackson, a doctor will give a

patient who pays well pretty much anything. A doctor could very well

prescribe marijuana for a case of whiplash if the price is right.

He could prescribe morphine for it too, what's the diff?

I know I will take flak for this but I don't give rats #### about what MJ did or others of his ilk do. Hell, you can go to Hwy80 here and pick up a demerol or 2 off the street......If morons want to abuse.....that's them. I just resent only having addictive narcotic painkillers (that I choose to not take because of the nature of the drug) because some idiots are terminally STUPID. Let em doom themselves, because the needs of those genuinely in need take priority IMO.

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

and using your rationale-lets go ahead and make narcotic painkillers/anaesthetics/opiates illegal for fear of the craphounds who abuse.

Yes there are other choices; you might say that morphine as a drug

may be abused but it's controlled in a way in which all other legal

drugs are controlled (neither approving nor disapproving).

When we start opening the door for a widely popular recreational drug

to be considered in the same light as all other drugs, you can bet

it will be a floodgate.

I don't believe I have ever said anything about not controlling the use of prescription cannabis. Of course make strict parameters for use by patients based on medical finding of their condition. Limit prescribing to select doctors in select specialities.... Just like the use of prescription narcotic painkillers. There will always be those that circumvent the system ( like as what happens now with prescription painkillers) but to deny those in need what can relieve the nerve pain without the unwanted side effects of narcotic use is wrong. To be blunt, ppl in my position have the choice of taking nothing at all-or becoming a narcotic painkiller addict........

Also i don't see where I misinterpreted what you said before. But I am not arguing with you, merely giving a POV from someone with a progressive, painful disease that's not cureable and is restricted from non addictive relief because of the terminally stupid.

So what's the point?

Both of those are legal recreational drugs. Pot isn't.

Is this is a digression from the issue of pot to be permitted as therapy,

entering the realm of pot to be permitted as recreation...???

If anyone can pull this post of yours apart, it's just going to show them as being a completely stupid argumentative douchebag.

omG what is your point? Obviously you don't get my nor Tmma's point.

Hey, MJ abused plastic surgery. Let's ban plastic surgery for everyone so it's not abused.

and as an aside, I totally am in favor of pot being legalized for all. I don't smoke pot, but I think legalizing it, and taxing it would be beneficial to the country, the drug problem, etc

But eta: as far as banning something to benefit the needy only to prevent abuse by a few can be applied to anything.

No I said nothing about that - he specifically REQUESTED the medication that killed him.

and as an aside, I totally am in favor of pot being legalized for all. I don't smoke pot, but I think legalizing it, and taxing it would be beneficial to the country, the drug problem, etc

I'm not in favor of legalization for all; everyone is entitled to their opinion on that.

I think smoking of regular cigarettes should be outlawed as well, but that won't happen.

I don't think everyone should have the right to dispense second-hand smoke.

But eta: as far as banning something to benefit the needy only to prevent abuse by a few can be applied to anything.

It's the other way around; the benefit for the FEW and abuse by MANY.
