I said benefit of NEEDY not many, learn to read.

And unless you have a loved one with MS, you really don't have a clue as to how stupid you sound. People can abuse ANYTHING...alcohol, cigs, prescription drugs. Your opinion is quite contradictory, because if you're worried about the 'many' who can abuse things, then you need to really take that further. It doesn't stop at 'weed'. Hell, from that notion, we should ban all fattening food because people can abuse that too.

My grandmother was killed from a legal prescription drug that was taken off the market after it killed 500 people. Just because it's legal doesn't mean it's 'better' than some big bad marijuana boogeyman. It's all frickin politics over what's legal and what's not. Now, pls do not fight with me on this concerning the medicinal purposes aspect of it, because it's really beginning to narc me wrt you obviously not knowing what a big help this could be for MS patients. And obviously, it's something that hits VERY close to home for me, so your preachy preachy 'what about everyone else' is just gonna set me off.

I have always liked Montel and no doubt he would be the most judicious and circumspect in his medicinal use.

I just don't think the tradeoff is worth the risk for abuse, with all due respect.

To me, there is no clear decision to be made about this, no matter how compelling he makes it.

Let's agree to disagree.

If pot could be taken in any form except by smoking, I'd say go for it,

but NOT in the home - do you think every single user will take the

precaution of locking up their stash so the kids can't get at it,

or better yet, lock up the hash brownies every single time?

If they legalized it would everyone go to "authorized locations"

to partake by prescription, or be allowed to re-sell it?

You have NO CLUE how debilitating and PAINFUL this disease is, and you're 'let's examine every possible scenario no matter how petty, even though those who are bound to abuse pot most likely already fricken do' angle is just pissing me off. It's sanctimonious people like you who cause people like my friend Tmma without a legal option to get RELIEF from her disease, and for that, I am so pissed off I think I need to take a vj break for a few hours.

So, since you're so worried about resale-ability of pot (i mean how ridiculous, as if you can't do it right now everywhere in America), you've left every MS patient with two choices: suck it up, or get hooked on narcotics. You're such a saint.

'YOU' 'don't think the trade off is worth it'?

YOU don't think........That's right....YOU DON'T THINK, Sir!

Ever had a loved one with MS, terminal cancer or other such diseases that cause pain of such a manner that narcotics in alot of States is the only way to deal with it? Narcotics that not only make you an addict but render you pretty much unable to function.

Ever watched an MS patient become crippled with the pain? Go to the chemo ward and see how many folks are in pain with cancer and MS, vomiting because they cannot keep food down and losing frightening amounts of weight. Deny those people relief because the 'trade off' isn't worth it....go on.

How dare you state the 'tradeoff' is NOT WORTH THE RISK!!!!

Come and say that when YOU are in chronic debilitating pain & suffering the nausea of chemo [sometimes I am on chemo for MS]. See how you feel about the tradeoff then.

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

What's your point? Do parents lock up their alcohol cabinet? Do you? Alcohol is ten times worse.

If a 12 year old kid took a few puffs of some good weed he'd improve his video gaming ability and laugh a lot. If he drinks a few beers he'll be half-dead, unconscious, vomiting all over himself.

From your stance on the subject I assume you have never smoked weed?

All this horseshit about PEOPLE IN PAIN and misguided notions of civil rights is ludicrous.rofl.gif

Other medications are available but pot as the end-all and be-all is just not the answer, my friend.

ANY kind of second-hand smoke makes me sick and nauseous.

In fact I HAVE tried it because I went to a college where it was all around me.

In some of these places pot smoke permeated the immediate atmosphere

so I had no choice in the matter.

I blended right in, grew my hair long and was never an activist against pot or any

other drug popular at the time. Personally I thought it all was repulsive but not

for the reasons given by the Bible-thumpers or mainstream conservatives

who were just as crazy as the pot smokers (on the issue of drugs

only, not everything). I'm sure my parents thought I was smoking pot.rofl.gif

More of my friends were pot smokers than the latter but I was able to separate

that habit from my interactions with them. The whole campus smelled of pot

and from a DISTANCE that smell actually seemed pleasing. However if I

came to a room where it was as thick as fog I would do the logical thing

and leave because it made me sick. Smoking pot with some people was

a LITMUS TEST for social acceptance but there were many who were users

for whom it was not.

How does that make not having tried it a bad thing?

I haven't tried fisting either.

That's two strikes against me so I'm sure that makes me a very bad person

and I will certainly rot in hell.devil.gif

PS - People that smoked pot and did drugs have given us some of the best music on the planet!

By saying that "other medications are available" you seem to be dismissing out of hand the idea that a person who lives with day to day chronic pain could have any practical knowledge of what substances are most effective in allowing them to manage that pain AND be able to function with a semblance of normalcy.

It's a bit arrogant to say the least.

Thanks - it seemed to me to be an accurate interpretation of what you wrote. You are suggesting, quite clearly, that you know better about pain management than someone in chronic pain; and your opposition to pot seems to have more to do with second hand smoke than it does with it's pain killing properties.

Arrogant hits the nail on the head, I'd say

All this horseshit about PEOPLE IN PAIN and misguided notions of civil rights is ludicrous.rofl.gif

Horseshit? Really?

You know what's horseshit 'my friend'?

What's such a pile of horseshit is YOUR myopic POV that completely cannot distinguish between people in pain who would garner some relieft from cannabis and those that indulge for recreation...Like you did.... and to be honest, for that, I actually feel alittle sorry for you. It must be so difficult to exist in a vacuum like that....and one can only hope and pray your loved ones should not need any kind of relief from cannabis......Because with you in charge of their care-they will be denied it. Good Luck living with that on your conscience...'my friend'.

As for ' as long as they don't do it in the home'........That's a massive pile of doo doo right there. If you have ever known anyone with MS/ cancer & suffering the effects of the progression of the disease and chemo you would know that for a multitude of reasons...home is where they spend most of their time....

How wonderful to attach the ROFL smiley to your comment about people in pain.

I sincerly hope, and I mean this...I sincerly hope that you are NOT ever placed in the position where cannabis would give you alittle relief from the constant pain or frightening side effects of chemo. and I mean that.

Well, in a couple of hours I am off to the hospital for a round of IV. I'll be sure and let my hell-mates there know your POV....actually maybe not-I cannot possibly be that heartless.
