Hi got here recently ,I am wondering how long does one has to wait for the SS number/ID .I have checked the DS230 form for the issuance of the SS number/ID. I would like to apply for a state ID so I dont have to carry my passport always for Identification, I'm assuming they would like my SS number.

Thank you

I'm the wife of an American Soldier;

I'm the hope that lives within him after storm clouded days.

The freedom from war that gives wings to his heart,

May they reach across the miles and bind our hearts together

against all that we must face in this world.

We waited about 10 days after POE so my fiancee would appear in the Social security computers. Then we applied no problem and got her card in 6-7 days. After we married, we went back and simply changed her card to her married name.
