can't get a driver's license

Gah what a frustrating middle ground!

We're heading to Arizona. I can drive on my UK license there except once I become a "state resident", which I am classed as being as soon as we enroll my daughter in school, when we're not required to refund any of her educational costs (which we're not). We're POEing on July 8th, getting married July 17th and she's enrolling in school beginning of August.

So from what I can make out, I'll have to apply for my state DL by mid August, and it will only be valid until my I-94 expires, after this I'll need to wait for my EAD to come through? So there's potentially a month or more where I cannot legally drive anymore? It's nuts, because if it weren't for my daughter attending public school, I could drive on my UK license until my GC comes through but now I'll have to stop driving until my EAD arrives. That's going to make the school run reallllly difficult!
