Filling N-400?? help need info.....

I just got my 10 yrs. permanent resident card March this year and Ive been here for almost 3 years this July. I just want to ask if When can I file my N-400 after I recieved my permanent resident card?? When I first got my temporary resident card that was March 2008 and I got my 10 yrs. this March 2010,do I need to wait March 2011 to file my citizenship???Please help.....

hi - your situation is simple and similar to everyone, at least mine.

USCIS starts counting when you became a LPR and not when you arrived in the US (if they are different dates). Your GC should mention on it that you have been a "Resident since 03/xx/2008" and that is the date you need to use to count.

For citizenship applications, there are two options. The first is based on a marriage to a USC which allows you to apply after 3 years of being a LPR. The second is 5 years being LPR.

The 3 year rule has the restriction that you still need to be married to the same USC that applied for your Adjustment of Status and are still living together - but it looks like you are all set with this.

The earliest you can apply for citizenship is sometime in December 2010 (90 days before you complete your 3 years).

For example, if you became LPR on 3/15/2008, then the earliest you can apply for citizenship is 12/15/2010. Please make sure you count 90 days and not 3 months since USCIS will not accept applications earlier than 90 days.
