Emailing the DS-230

I want to get some thoughts on those who recently had an interview or had one scheduled. Is it okay to email th embassy in Jamaica the ds-230 because I want to be able to minimize the amount of time fiance has to travel to Kingston right now. I had took him a copy of the ds-230 while I was in Jamaica and I told him to fill it out and mail it to me and I can scan it and send it to them through email. Do you all think that will be okay? His case is there in Jamaica but he has not received his packet 3 yet, so we are trying to get an head start on things. Also, I would like his interview be done before his b-day in july. It would even be better if he could enjoy DC's Carnival as well, but we will cross our fingers on that one, lol.

It is worth a try...

At one point they were accepting scanned copies of the DS230 via e-mail... then it seemed a bunch of us tried it and they stopped accepting them... when I tried to e-mail the scanned copy they replied saying they were unable to open attachments. Because it was so close to our NAO2 expire date they gave me a fax number and told me to fax a copy of the DS230 to them...

I say send the e-mail and see what they say...

maybe they will accept a fax if not the scan... worse case scenario send it DHL...

Good luck

Thanks I was thinking of having the attachment within the email without having a link to open it.

Yup! That is what we did as well. Then, the interview was scheduled the same day the received it. I would also request that they send all correspondence to you via email. My fiance never received the packet 3 or packet 4 in the mail so thank God we took the initiative and had them email that information to us!

Yes email it to them. I think it will help to get things moving.

My fiance never received packet 3. Just had interview May 7th. I am in the DC area as well.

Good luck with everything. Make sure he has a police certificate and non-impediment form.

Also have your last 2 tax returns for the interview.

The back and forth to kingston is a bit much.

Crazy how what the embassy will and will not accept changes

Glad to hear they are accepting scans of the DS230 again.

See this thread from December where many other boardies were told the same, that they were not able to open attachments :bonk:
