If there are indeed kids in our schools that are offended by our nation's flag, then perhaps they ought to go to schools on different soils where our flag isn't displayed.

That's inaccurate as it wasn't about offending that provoked the VP to tell the boys to change their shirts, but rather he was concerned about it inciting violence. And let's be real here - this is in context with the recent racial tensions over the new Arizona law. It would be the intent of those boys that other students would be reacting too, not the symbol itself. If it were in fact the flag symbol itself causing trouble, you'd be hearing about the VP removing the flag from the school. Completely different meaning - symbol and intent.

pledge allegiance to that flag prior to the start of the school day, that is certainly done in my kid's school.

You're kidding? No wonder people here are so indoctrinated and refuse to listen to anything about anyone else.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

You object to the Pledge of Allegiance?

Who pledges on a daily basis? Actually we didn't pledge at all in AUS. Probably once a month we sang the anthem at an assembly, yet that was during elementary school only.

Then again you guys do that at sporting matches too.. Now that is funny. Especially the jets flying over which makes people oh so proud.

When a nation is forged out of a collection of robbers, rapists and damned, dirty traitors 1,153,264 immigrants born in the UK - what would you expect...

(I joke of course).

The Pledge of Allegiance is an important part of contemporary American culture. I suggest you make an attempt at a little assimilation here. Mexican immigrants aren't the only ones who need to assimilate, you know. Of course, I trust you know that there is more to assimilating than being white.

They're citizens I am not, I simply have permission to reside here.

LPR's can be expected to assimilate too.

But basically, you want to see immigrants from cultures you disapprove of (Mexicans, Muslims) assimilate but you yourself feel no need to as you're just an LPR. Is that about right?

He also wants to see racist extremists jailed, but is quite happy to join in with the aforementioned racist extremists so long as he feels that the victims deserve it.

No it's not right at all. LPR means you have permission to live somewhere but you share none of the benefits or rights. As such, why would I pledge an allegiance?

The difference with a number of citizens is that many are born here and still don't speak English nor care to. They live in their own communities and do their own thing. The other problem you mention, is more along the lines of extremist who cover from head to toe and live in a country they clearly share no values with.

.......and now the thread degenerates.....

It's a typical strategy of Pike and A,J. It's almost as if they cannot have a discussion beyond x posts because you might catch them out for talking out of their azz. That is, by asking for more details. It's only a matter of time before the Aborigines are brought up.
