Hello Everyone.

I am new to this board. I have been reading alot of your post and its quite informative am glad i found this board.

Here is my timeline.

got married in 2003

got my conditional GC summer 2004

Divorced in 2006

Filed to remove condtions in 2006 while divorced( did the whole biometrics thing again)

Had an interview january 2008 got approved amd recieved my unconditional GC around Feb 2008.

Here's my Question

I would like to file to citizenship. I know you have to be a permanent resident for 60mnths. In my case do they count from 2004 when i recieved my conditional GC. Or 2008 when i got my unconditional GC.

Do i qualify? Am not sure.

Thanks in advance

Hi and Welcome to VJ!

You need to count since you became a permanent resident, which is the summer of 2004. Look at your GC and check the date on it that says "Resident Since" - that's the date you need to count from. But going off of the time you mentioned, summer 2004, it looks like you already qualify for naturalization.

Hope this helps!
