So if the guy who spread the mulch in front of my unit last week collapsed and starting bleeding out of his ears and if I gave him a ride to the ER, but didn't ask him for his green card first, am I "recklessly disregarding" the fact that he is very likely illegal?

i think the albophobia is getting the best of you & your judgement sir.

No, because as the law states you weren't doing it "knowingly".

What if I did know he's illegal? I imagine the purpose of the law is to inhibit the transportation of illegals from the border area into the country. But what if I know he's illegal and all I'm doing is taking him to the ER?

I disagree, but then again we disagree on just about everything

true. before people get all worked up, lets remember this is a BILL. it will be tossed around cut up & reworded several times before it becomes a LAW if it even does.

open the car door, kick him out at the entrance, call the ER when you drive off...easy enough

Probably the same thing that happens to everyone else who speeds to hospital with a injured/dying person....ie nothing unless your that NFL player with a dying mother in law............

Right.

This is why we need a national ID card. The direction this country is going in with all the populist anger at 'illegals', I really want to see a national ID card for us people of brownish pigmentation who aren't illegal. I fear the angry and bitter albopricks in law enforcement.

 can you point out where the legislation states the bold print? it does do the non bold print.

It doesn't implicitly stat it, however, it does give police the right to stop, and arrest anyone who looks like they could be an immigrant. Unless they have the proper identification on them to prove otherwise, they will be going to jail til it is cleared up. It would appear that the only people exempt from this would be white people, and only the ones with no foreign accent.

If I know he's illegal, chances are we're friends.

And yes, I do have very good friends who were once illegal.

if your friend OD'd would you walk into the ER w/ him? not unless you want johnny all up your a$$ you wouldn't. you'd do the drive & drop, to avoid getting pinched for knowing illegal activity is happening & not reporting it.

You missed my point. People who are of hispanic ancestry, who are born here are now subject to this level of scrutiny and potential for abuse.
