Question About Getting the Visa from The Embassy (Colombia)

I have another question about the visa process for the US Embassy..

My fiancee has a friend here in the USA who went through the K1 process in 2006 and she is telling us that she was able to get her visa at the Embassy on the day following her interview??? She said she was told that "Your visa has been approved and you will need to return tomorrow after 3pm to receive it." She told us that she went the following day and got her visa....

I dont know if the rules have changed but the K1 package says in bold letters "Under no circumstances will applicants be allowed to pick up their visas at the Embassy."

For anyone that has recently gone through the process, were you able to get your visa at the embassy or do you truly have to wait for them to send it via DOMESA? We are a bit confused now.

the visa is delivery only by Domesa. Is possible get the visa in 2 or 3 days when you provide an address in Bogota, for other cities, can take 6 bussiness days.

I got my passport in 5 business days.

Yes, the rules did change. A few years ago you were asked to go back the same day of the interview to pick up your visa. Then in 2007 they started asking people to go the next day to pick it up, then that changed to waiting two days before the visa was ready for pick up. And then finally they just started using DOMESA for delivery.

Thank you for clearing this up Diana. My Fiancee faxed the DS-230 and DS-2100 today..

You all have been a big help and believe we will have a good chance of getting approved on the first try.

if she emailed the papers can get the acknowledgment from the embassy in 1 or 2 days and she can call them next Wednesday to get the interview date

I called today and was told that they had not yet processed the fax :-(. Looks like we didnt get a may interview date since the schedule has been posted so ill call back next week.
