I've been so focused on Milagros getting her medical and interview that I've completely lost sight of the fact that I'm leaving for Phil in less than 2 weeks and we really don't have anything planned.

I'm flying into Manila a week from Friday, we're crashing there for the night in the Intercontinental and then leaving the next day to fly into TAG. From there, it's all pretty much open for 3+ days of fun in Bohol, but I haven't got a clue where to go and/or stay..

Lonely Planet gave the Chriscent Ville Hotel pretty good marks: http://www.chriscentville.com/cville/ and it's really cheap.. We are tourists for this trip, so we're going for the tarsiers and chocolate covered mountains.. But what else? Is there an all day touristy thing we can do that'll take us to all the hot spots? Any romantic nighttime things to see? We're not divers (she can't really swim) but hanging on the beach is fun..

Are there better places to stay? Things to do?

Salamat for any advice you can provide..

Jared, we spent 3 days in Bohol at this place called Alona Studios. http://www.panglao.se/ It was a bit more of a distance from Alona Studios to the Alona Beach than the website said (5-min...no way). But I had to find a place that had a kitchen (coz Wilma's mom wanted to cook for us to save a lil money) and we need to have room for 5 to sleep. We got a 2-room apartment for $65/day and the place was nice and clean and the owner is from Sweden. The don't have restaurant on site, which is a little problem unless you are comfy driving a scooter (they rent them for 300p/day) to one of the many nearby restaurants. But Wilma and I took a walk one night to Alona beach (about 20 min walk eventhough they said 5 min) and there had some really nice looking (romantic) places on the beach. If we didn't have her brother, her mother and her first cousin with us, I think having dinner overlooking the beach at one of the many restaurants there would have been very romantic. I think one of those hotels with an ocean view would have also been more romantic. But we were making big points with mom :) Wilma still loved Alona Studios and didn't want to leave coz it was quiet and things in Cebu are always noisy.

Another thing for romance I think would be the Loboc river dinner cruise at night. We did it for lunch but while we were there I realized they also do the cruise at night. Might be romantic if not too crowded.

We did Chocolate Hills, Tasiers, big snake, Loboc buffet cruise, man made forest (this was a big let down)....and the Church, the compact signing. All very cool stuff .... and we had moments to remember forever.

Good luck, I liked Bohol.... got engaged there!

Bohol was pretty cool, take some time and go check out Camiguin Island. It is so much better, and cleaner and cheaper and the beaches are much better. Very secluded, very clean, plenty of white sands, hot springs, cold springs, soda springs and active volcanos.

Johnny cheers for all this.. I'm not 100% sold on the location, but I do like the Loboc river dinner cruise at night, that sounds just perfect.. We're definitely doing the Chocolate Hills, Tarsiers, Big Snake, Church, etc.. I like the idea though of renting the motorbike

I've got a dumb Fargo question.. How do you get to Camiguin Island from Tagbilaran City? Are there super fast boats? Doesn't appear to be any sort of flights..

Thanks again!

I went home last december and stayed in Alona Tropics in Panglao and I really enjoyed the place. It's also good if you just want to sit and enjoy the view of the beach or walk on the shore. The room where I stayed is almost at the beach front, and it's not that expensive at all. I was even surprise that with the amount I paid I am near the beach front. It's peaceful and not so crowded.

Yeah, I liked that area. We walked around there and I imagine some of those beach front hotels would have been pretty romantic. Plus having dinner on the beach looked pretty nice too. We were tucked away a few kilometers from the beach at alona studios. I'd go back but likely stay on the beach front.

hey! we went twice already and we loved it!!! The first time, we went to Bohol Tropics Resort in Tagbilaran and we did their offer of country side tour wherein we explored bohol and the tarsiers hehe... the resort is not at the panglao beach location and the hotel provided a van for us to go to the beach for 1 day...it was cheaper and for us better since we dont want to be on the beach the whole vacation...the resort is convenient coz everything is there already... the next time (last feb. 2010), we stayed at the AMORITA resort...it was beach front resort...more expensive and posh than bohol tropics....THE GOOD THING ABOUT THOSE TWO PLACES...they picked up from airport, and provided transpo and tours and they also arranged for us to be dropped off at the airport too....
