As I stood this morning in the bathroom, after my shower, I noticed the liner for the babies' tub was hanging on the towel rack.

Those with babies know what this liner is...

I saw a ream of tags attached to this liner and started to read them. Now maybe I was just tired cause Kia was a pickle last night till about 1AM... but...

One of the tags spoke about new materials use in making the liner and was followed by a host of numbers I guess were the laws it addressed...

It was repeated twice, once in french and once in spanish. Not all that odd, but the last line said: Valid in Canada only...

Now.... does this mean that its only new materials in Canada? If I cross the border it will spring to life all bright and shiney?? That here in the US it was only second class material???

It being much too early to wrap my mind about this complex issue I moved on to the other tags. The next one spoke about the fire retardance of the material. It listed another group of numbers, most likely the laws it addressed. Followed by the obligatory repeats in french and spanish...

But... and the very end it said: Valid in US only...

Oh man.... did this mean if I crossed the border it might burst into flames??? Am I now forced to decide if I want new material or that I want to avoid flames?? That I must accept bursting into flames if I want new materials??

This was just too much for so early....

My day was shot before I ever got out the door...

The tub does not.

The liner I speak of is like a sling that is clipped to the edges of the tub to suspend the baby over the water in the tub. It seems to keep the child from actually laying in the water.

Ours is a Fisher Price product...

I'm more curious what a liner for a baby tub is? Sorry...I've never heard of one. We just bought one of those little plastic tubs from Ikea and fill it up with water, and as far as I can tell, it has no labels on it whatsoever. :)

Interesting. I've never seen anything like that. How old is your baby now? :)

I can't imagine why you would need to use one - what is wrong with bathing the baby in the tub without a liner? I'm confused.

However, as to whether the US has some shoddy practices in production and sale of goods. Absolutely yes - did you hear on the news about the contaminants in US produced beef?

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

She will be 4 weeks on the 16th. All bright eyed and voice tracking too! She sleeps all night, most nights, and has gained almost 2 pounds over her birth weight.

I believe that Canada and France have much tighter safety regulations on baby products and probably require the product have labels listing the materials.

I am guessing its to avoid having the child actually lay in the bath water... As to why this is a plus.... not a clue...

I hear about beef problems all the time. Which one are you thinkig of?

:thumbs:Awww...that's awesome! Our little boy was colicky for about the first 3 or 4 months and he rarely sleeps solidly through the night. He's 2 yrs. now though and man, time sure flies.

Maybe so.. the tags did not actually list the materials just the law numbers it adhered to.

I just found it amusing that it has the disclaimer of Valid in Canada only...

There were two concerns, the one I remember is the amount of copper in the beef. I remember because I never heard of that one before.

Yeah, that is one very cute baby - and I am still not sure why one would want to prevent a baby from being completely immersed in the water, well apart from the head of course ;)

Totally Cool, sounds like you boy is also doing very well. I was warned about colick and how it would make my life a mess but so far we are avoiding it.

Can't say I have heard about a copper problem either...

My sister-in-law thinks its because of hypothermia. Most very young babies have difficulties regulating body temp.
