Hello everyone! Just a quick question about fingerprints...

Right now our I-130 application is in the California service center. We've gotten our NOA1 but that's it. Haven't heard anything else, when I check on the USCIS website, it says -

Initial Review

On March 9, 2010, we received this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or contact our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators.

If you have filed an I-485, I-589, I-751, N-400, I-90, I-821, I-131, I-130 or I-765, you can expect to receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints and/or biometrics taken. The timing of your appointment is determined by the number of applicants ahead of you that also need a biometric appointment. We try to schedule biometric appointments as quickly as possible and in most cases you will receive your appointment notice within 30 days of submitting your application. We will send your appointment notice approximately 14 days ahead of your scheduled appointment. It is important that you keep this appointment. If absolutely necessary, you can request that your appointment be rescheduled however, please be aware that rescheduling may delay the processing of your application. Please follow the instructions on your appointment notice if you need to reschedule.

Ok soo the question I have is this - as of today, haven't heard anything, am I supposed to be getting some sort of appointment notice for my fingerprints/biometrics done? Or am I misunderstanding that? Because it's been 30 days and I haven't gotten anything from them. Can I go to my local RCMP office and get a jump start on my fingerprints or do I have to wait for the actual letter? Is it abnormal not to have heard anything from the CSC? Or is this "normal"?

Thanks for any info that can be passed along to enlighten me, I really appreciate it.

Cheers!

Have you actually filed for a CR1 or a K3?

Anyway, unless you are adjusting status from within the U.S. - you won't be called for a biometrics appointment.

This is all separate and apart from the Canadian police check, which you will submit with your DS-230. The check you get done is good for one year, it is too early to get it, you should wait a few months, or until you get your NOA2.

You only need a fingerprint version if you have ever been arrested - otherwise the Canada wide name check will suffice. You can have that done at he police station or at an RCMP station - some places will be same day service, some may mail it out to you.

Oh sorry, I should have said - we have a lawyer and she actually filed the I-130 and I-129f at almost the same time. I'm aware that the K-3 will probably be kicked to the curb and that we will proceed with the CR-1.

I am in Canada so am not adjusting status.

Soo I guess that answers my question - thank you very much!
